As a matter of course I avoid any branch or phone applications.

I applied online without any probs as a new Halifax customer for this reg saver account.

No annoying sales stuff, you can see what you are doing and what you agree to -and have proof emailed to you. The application was agreed and arranged instantaneous. I set up the standing order with my other bank online too, so the money was in my Halifax account within a couple of days.

Everybody has got their own preferences, but I wouldn't bother with phone or branch unless unavoidable..

I applied for the Regular saver online, and the process was very easy as an existing customer, but how do I know what interest rate I'm getting? I'm hoping I am getting 10% (well I should be)... but how would I know for sure?
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

If you have followed the Ts & Cs you can be sure, because it's a contract. Essentially:
    • no conflicting accounts
    • opened and funded with cleared funds before 20 July
    • pay between minimum and maximum stated amounts every month before 28th, ensuring funds are cleared by that date There is flexibility in this one - basically, new cleared funds must go into the account every month.
It's all pretty straightforward really; I don't subscribe to banking conspiracy theories. However, to be sure, you should have a "Certificate of Investment" which states the interest rate.
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...
  • I have had to deal with three problems at the Halifax over the last 20 years and every time they appear to be worse than useless !
The last case is the final straw and I am more than very upset with their attitude. At www.halifax.gb.net the case is being documented at least for a little satisfaction. Same pages on www.line123.co.uk
Every one I have spoken to find it all almost unbelievable.

The rate is fixed for a year on the date your first deposit was received (T&C). You can find this date on your online statement. If it is after the 20 July you get 7% if it before 20 July you get 10%.

    Hope this is good news...

    Edit:
    Oops had been answered already....

Sorry mate but I should have stated "serious or major problems". The usual little annoying problems with all banks don't really matter that much.
I am very lucky to spend most of my time and money with the Royal Bank of Scotland and the Abbey National but I have a mortgage with the Halifax. They have been the worst when you need help or assistance.
