Avoid Halifax!!

I had a very poor experience of Halifax today. A guy I used to work with thought their customer service and attitude were very bad and now I can see why he shut down his accounts.
I set up a regular saver account in July only to be diddled out of the 10% rate and have a 7% rate applied. I wont go into the details but Halifax should have made some restrictions clear. When I set the account up it would have been almost impossible for me to get the high rate.
Anyway, today I speak to one of their gophers in a call centre and she was arrogant and rude.
So now I have shut down my account and hold no accounts with these people.
Beware Halifax!

....also the one way system is a nightmare 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
So are you saying the restrictions on the account were not in the terms and conditions when you signed up?
You say almost impossible, but what would have made it possible?
Maybe some detail would help here.0 -
HBOS has its problems with investments but can't say I have found any with their savings, except for very poor rates in their websavers recently. They have offered new rates for websavers recently which are better.
As to the Regular Saver I have one at 10% - haven't had any problems as I have followed the T&C?
Perhaps if you would care to enlighten us?0 -
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0

Nonsense.

Every Halifax representative, at five separate branches, talked me through the details and made it very clear when the cut off point was for the 10% Regular Saver.
Methinks the OP doth protest too much.
It's not very clever to use one experience to diss an entire bank. Why not ask a question instead to see if other people's experiences match your own?
We're looking forward to some fantastic interest in 11 months time.
As far as the OP goes, I can't think of many Regular Savers which beat 7% at the moment. (S)he could still be laughing in 12 months time.
P.S. Normally I welcome new posters to the site - but not in this instance.0 -
Always found their call centre staff very friendly and helpful.
There was a 975 post, 49 page thread about this running through May, June and July and it was always on the first page - I'm surprised you missed it. Let's see, what could have made you ineligible?- You credited your account with cleared funds after 21 July?
- You were underage?
- You didn't pay within the stated amounts before 28th of each month?
- You already had a regular saver account with them and didn't cancel it?
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...:cool:0 -
I thought the restrictions were made perfectly clear, on the advertisements I read about this account. It was well publicised as being an offer that would only last 'til July 20th... And my account was easy as pie to set up.
Though not normally rushing to defend banks, I feel kind of suspicious about someone with a post count of 1, seemingly registering just to bad mouth a bank.Target Cash Net Worth: £25K by January 2012

I can't comment on OP problem but I have found Halifax branches to be totaly anti customer and as far as they are concerned they are more important than anybody who walks through their doors. A relatavely straight forward problem was treated with contempt and it was made clear that obviously the customer was not the most important factor. Consequently I closed my accounts, not that I suspect anybody at Halifax could care less. As far as I'm concerned - sod'em - and I live in closed proximity to Halifax. If you have to wait 5 working days to see one of their advisors something is seriously wrong, and this is not not just one isolated branch.Age & Treachery Will Always Overcome Youth & Enthusiasm !!
