Portable External harddrive or huge flash usb?

Options
Hi,

I am looking to use either a portable external HDD or a flash usb (32GB or more) to run applications like portable photoshop, illustrator, winrar, vista, etc. I will also store video files, and other folders, etc, on the drive as well.

But which one should I buy?

Can u please link me to some good items?

1st priority is running applicationsd and using it on the go.
2nd priority is storage space.

Many usb hard drives will require an external power supply, so they aren't ideal for use on the go. However, I'm not even sure you can get flash drives that large.

The main problem will be speed, as running applications off these won't be fast. An external drive will be much faster than a flash stick, though.

you get get a 128GB flash drive here

and flash drives are MUCH quicker than harddrives upto 10x faster

not only that they never need defraging and use upto 50% less power

BUT you pay a price for it (for now anyway)
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I think the OP meant a USB Stick.

SSD's are a terrible waste of money at the moment with short lifespans and disapointing performance.

Sorry, learn what you're talking about. That is a solid state drive, not a flash drive. Its not even USB, its SATA, meaning you plug it inside your computer as a hard drive. Its internal, unless you buy a caddy, which will need external power.

    then i stand corrected

and i believe the biggest USB FLASHDRIVE you can get now (though hard to find) is 64GB (and costly)

infact B*llocks a USB FLASHDRIVE IS a solid state drive you idiot but using USB as the connection which reducers the speed

Technically. But in the same way we call sticky tape 'sellotape' because the brand name became much more common, its the same that flash drives are known as USB drives, and solid state drives are hard drive equivalents.

well go on crucial (US website) then and tell me why they call their USB sticks FLASH DRIVES??

i would consider crucial to be one of if not the BIGGEST seller of memory so i guess they must be wrong

we call it a bonnet they call it a hood comes to mind.....USB sticks are still solid state drives it just the interface to the PC thats different....(just like the cards you put in your camera all the same thing different connections)
