    Are Varicose Veins dangerous?

I went to the doctors with mine, the back of my lower leg, the get itchy sometimes and it seemed to be getting worse. They are quite visable (this doesn't bother me) and lumpy. As the muscle in the leg is stong and healthy I was advised to leave them alone . He did say if I wanted them removed for cosmetic reasons we could look into it. I assumed this meant paying for it privately. Whilst it doesn't look good, the fact it wasn't a risk to my health was good enough for me.

This was about ten years ago. To this day they are still the same, get itchy sometimes and don't look good.
  • I was going to post this very question!! I've had thread veins on one thigh for as far back as I can remember (I'm 51), and they've never really bothered me - but now I've got some on my lower legs. They're quite small (which should be a good thing, you'd think!!), but from a distance they look like I've missed a bit when I shaved my legs!!! Really not a good look!!

I shall talk to my local beauty salon immediately - I don't know how long the treatment will take, but fingers crossed I'll be gorgeous again for next summer...

I just had a vien on my nose zapped with ipl laser at my salon and once a month she has a cosmetic doctor come in for consoltations, she said if its just thread viens not varicose he can zap them with his more powerful laser, so i have booked a free consoltation with him.

I have a cluster of little red veins on the inside of one ankle, and I'm mid-forties. They're not causing me any issues and I'm ignoring them; if they started to hurt or turned into varicose veins, I'd get them treated. A colleague in her early thirties had really bad varicose veins despite being very active; she had them surgically removed. Think they snipped and cauterised them at calf and groin, and pulled them out.

Mercy, Funny you should mention the Vitamin D. I have been taking 20,000 Units a day for six months and feel great. Just been on holiday to Bahrain and tanned SOOOOO quickly without burning.
