I have thread veins on my feet and one visible vein on my legs and I'm 24! I have had them for a couple of years! I am not overweight and I don't smoke, and I do lots of excercise. Both my parents have them (who are also slim and healthy). None of us are pale skinned. It probably has some genetic element.

I,m having treatment for the removal of red viens at my local college. I think there,s a bit of difference between red/spider, thread viens and viricose viens. Mine are on my face and chest, it,s £3.50 a time and I,m seeing a lot of improvement. They call it epilation which had thought was something to do with hair removal.

Ah......... I'm thinking thread veins are the little red ones that you get on face and around nose etc. I also have them on feet and around ankles.

So if they are little and red, they are spider veins?? If so, what are thread veins?? I know varicose veins - blue and tendency to be lumpy.

  • hi all! has anyone ever tried an effective thread vein treatment cream?
  • I doubt the effectiveness of creams etc. for spider/thread veins. It may help a little bit, but it doesn't treat the underlying problem...
Normally, one-way valves in the veins of the lower extremities direct blood upwards toward the heart against gravity. When these valves become weak or damaged and don't close properly, blood may flow backward, which is known as venous insufficiency or venous reflux. The most common vein in the superficial system to reflux is the Great Saphenous vein (although there are many other veins which may be affected). The Great Saphenous drains the veins that normally live just beneath the skin. When these veins cannot handle the excess blood and pressure transmitted from the refluxing saphenous, they engorge and become varicose veins.

Spider veins and thread veins are the same thing apparently:

Thread veins are tiny veins that appear most commonly on the cheeks, nose and legs. Small thread veins are red, but larger ones look purplish. They have many names, including:
    spider veins

If you have large visible veins, they could be varicose veins.

Anyone else found a way to get rid of a Thread vein / varicose vein, i have one on my legs its blue but not bulging. Can they pulse them with a laser like the little red thread veins you get on your face?
