I am looking at childcare for my daughter when I go back to work. Just wondered if anyone has any experiences of nurseries in Edinburgh or Fife (mainly kirkcaldy, dunfermline, dalgety bay, inverkeithing). Good or bad ones would be useful to me to help me try to make a decision.
thanks

hi my son has just left The Three Bears in Dunfermline as he is now 5. he was there for a couple of years and i would definitely recommend it.
website is http://www.thethreebears.co.uk/
good luck - finding a nursery you feel comfortable with is no easy task!!
This one had a new management team in just as we started using it and they have really turned it around. My son had problems with aggressive behaviour at nursery but rather than make it a problem they asked me to work with them and their health visitor to try and fix it. As a single parent they were a wonderful source of support for me in dealing with this

I second what MrsSambora says good luck it's not an easy task- do check the care commision reports for those areas not the same as a personal recommendation but helpfull to see if any nurseries have any issues.Booo!!!0

There are a few in and around Dunfermline so choices are not so limited.

After much deliberation and visits over different days we sent our first to Pitreavie Kindergarten.
Overall we still think it was a good decision. A happy little place and calm in comparison to some of the other nurseries we visited.
One thing we were pleased with; All the teachers were well-spoken and just "looked right" which for us was most encouraging. I believe your child would receive a good standard of education there, be well cared for and they won't help teach your child to speak like a "ned". The place was clean if not spotless every day and so very well organised. It was a little more expensive than some of the alternatives but in our opinion provided much better value for money considering the benefits for the child.
Mum didn't go back to work after the second so we never had further need of nursery but if we ever do again then both Dad and Mum say we would most probably put Pitreavie at the top of our list and sit back and pray they have a space.
A recent press report suggests it's still up there and praised among the best.

thanks for the advice. I'm also going to see the Royal Mile Nursery in Edinburgh next week. Has anyone any experience of whether it is good or not?
thanks again0 -
My DS (now 16) went to Juniper Green Private Nursery in Edinburgh from the age of 3 and we used it until the end of P1 (for after-school care). We stayed in touch until he was 12! It was fantastic and the staff hardly changed in all that time. The owner was Moira Halliburton (now married) and she had trained as a primary school teacher. The best grounding my son could have asked for. Good luck with your search.0

Hi,
i am currently looking at edinburgh nurseries. I work really near Waverley Train Station and am looking at nurseries as near to there as possible. Has anyone used either of the nurseries above? Or any feedback on Heriot Hill Nursery and Strawberry Hill Nursery would also be appreciated. Thanks for your help0 -
Hi
Sorry I don't know about the nurseries you have mentioned, my little one attends a nursery in the southside.
Have you read any of the inspection reports for more info?
