Can anyone recommend a good nursery in Fife or Edinburgh?

  • Whereabouts is the Edinburgh nursery based, is it the one at the bottom of Broughton st?

I think the one on East London st would be best to be steered clear of in my opinion. I did my placement there a while ago and would never recommend that nursery to anyone - ever. Sorry. That is just my opinion and I'm sure it may have changed but I would really look into other ones.

Go in uninvited to nurseries for a look around as you will get the best look at what they do and when.
  • Hi, it was the one at east london street so I am very interested in your comments. Why would you not recommend it? Thanks again

I doubt if you will get the answer to that one I would just accept it as a no no!
  • I really don't want to say much to be honest as I worked there at the end of my childcare and education course on placement and found that the way they ran the nursery, dealt with the children, talked around the kids and lied to the parents about their childrens day was bad enough for me to report them to the care commission.

I would not be happy to put my wee one in there and would never employ anyone (if I ran a nursery) that worked there when I was there.

They may have changed since I was there a couple of years ago but there are other fabulous nurseries around so I am sure you will find something great that fits in with you.

(sorry to be a bit of a downer but I would rather be told if I was to put my daughter in a nursery. Thats turned into a bit of a rant - sorry :o )
  • Thanks thefirstlady, I have crossed that of my list of potential nurseries. Do you know of any you would recommend in central Edinburgh? The ones I am thinking about at the moment are The Royal Mile Nursery, Early Days Nursery and Strawberry Hill Nursery. If anyone has any experience of these it would be appreciated.
