How many school uniforms does your child have?

  • Our kids are apparently in the minority then as they only have 2 of everything. With 4 kids, we do a wash load every day so anything dirty gets washed and dried within a day, during which time the other items are being worn. I only replace during the year if the uniform is unpatchable.

a wash every day, yikes! how do you dry it all? i only have 2 kids so i don't wash every day, and i don't have enough for a whites wash until the weekend. if i had 4 kids perhaps i'd be washing every day, but i struggle to dry it in this weather anyhow.

part of the reason i have so much uniform for spud is that it's difficult to buy it during the year if he ruins things. the shops don't stock it often, and it wouldn't be on offer anyhow. what i tend to do is buy some shirts etc. in the next size up, and if he needs a new shirt as an emergency the one that's the next size up will do.

DS (13) has 5 polo shirts, 3 pairs of trousers and 2 jumpers.

DD (5) has 3 summer dresses, 5 polo shirts plus 4 new ones as backup's through the school year, 3 cardigans, 2 pairs of trousers, 4 skirts. Mainly cos she's such a mucky pup especially with the white polo shirts. I always have to soak them for ages and some end up being chucked eventually because I just can't get them clean. God knows why they let them paint without an apron.

Perhaps a bit OTT with DD's but sometimes it's awkward finding uniform at reasonable prices at certain times of the year. So I get it all from Asda in July and know I'll be Ok for the year.

Daughter (going into year 9 at high school) has 2 skirts, 2 pairs trousers, 5 school polo shirts, 2 sweatshirts, and one of everything in the pe kit.

Son (about to start year 7 at high school) currently has his pe kit on order and one pair of trousers.

He will be getting more trousers, 5 polo shirts and 2 sweatshirts.

Oh and they will both have the 3 in 1 coat with the school logo on.
  • I don't know about primary school, but when I was at secondary school me and my sister had 2 blouses, 1 blazer, and 1 pair of trousers each. The blouses were worn for 5 days then washed (we changed out of them when we got home), the trousers got washed at the weekend or probably more likely every 2 or 3 weekends, and the blazers got washed in the holidays! I think I had a jumper too which got washed at the weekends but I didn't always wear it.

We used to wear vest tops under our blouses so they didn't get too sweaty! Sorry if TMI :P

Oh and one set of PE kit each. We only had PE about twice a week so it wasn't too difficult to keep that fresh!
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right

I have got my son 6 pairs of trousers, 9 polo shirts ( but will not be opening these all at once) and 2 jumpers because he does not like jumpers and will take them off as soon as I have left him at school.

My eldest has 5 trousers, 6 polo shirts (2x3pks) and 5 logo embroidered sweatshirts.

Clean outfit for every day, and I don't have to do any uniform ironing during the week - it all gets left till the weekend.

6 of everything plus probably a couple of extra polo's - clean for each day if needed that way. I only wash and iron at weekends to ensure we only wash full loads so have enough to last the week.

My DS has 5 pairs of trousers and 4 school tops but will be buying another couple when the school reopens in the next size up.

He is going to reception class in September and has a habit of getting a little mucky just before he goes out etc so would rather have too many than not enough. The trousers only cost £17.50 in total and the polo shirts cost £6 each. He also has some white shirts as back up just in case.
