I did one of these yesterday and the countdown started at about 1:20 to add extra ingredients, I popped them in and it started again after about 3-4 minutes, it turned out lovely...hmmm, now wondering if I may have put it on the wrong setting! Good luck with it!0 -
....sorry, then it had about 2:30 left when restarting...0

What a mistake buying this machine was..think the whole family have put on half a stone each in less than a week...just made the Chelsea buns and they are delicious!!
Saying that, the stuff I have made would have cost about £12 at sainsburys but cost me £3 max! This machine will pay for itself in about 4 weeks at this rate!0 -
Well after using my bargain MR since October (I think) have now ordered the 256 from electrical123.com, they're never going to be that price again are they;)
I'd promised that if we carried on using the bm then I'd buy a Panasonic as they're much better. We've been quite happy with the bread but am looking forward to my new super-duper version:)0 -
I have just managed to pick up a SD253 Panasonic at the local car boot today and it has turned out a marvellous white loaf as my first effort. I am now going to work my way through this whole thread to see what I can learn.
Buying it was a bit of a gamble, but 'nothing ventured' as they say.
And £2.50 ...............yes really ................£2.50 was certainly worth the bet :T:T:T Lucky, lucky me!0 -

Fantastic! :T
that's the one I've got, it's really good, as good as the new ones, minus brioche and (I think) spelt and jam programmes
did you get the booklet? the recipes are different to the new ones (don't know if they have improved the recipes or the machine, so I still use the old ones). You should be able to find it online if you don't have it.0 -

The booket was with it fortunately; only the measuring cups were missing. This isn't a problem though, as the recipes give the weights rather than '1 cup of this and that' like others I've seen.
I am just going to have to ration myself with how much I make. Being a singleton, there is only me to scoff the lovely bread and no one to tut at me as I do it0 -

Oh, I so know that feeling stilernin, I'm a singleton too but the way I look at it is this - there's no-one to pinch the crust I've been saving to have with apricot jam, and surely if I do put on just a tad too much butter I can always cut back on something else...sprouts or cabbage, perhaps (I don't like either very much so it isn't too much of a hardship)
Congratulations on your bargain, enjoy!

Today's the day i joined the Panasonic Breadmakers club and i have only 50 mins to wait to discover if my 1st 'panny' baking endeavour has been succesful.
Mine is the panasonic 256 version breadmaking machine.
I've previously always made bread by hand and baked it in the oven, more recently i've been baking bread using the artisan bread recipe, but i don't tend to have the cooker oven on very often since I got the halogen oven for Christmas and i don't like the idea of the cost of preheating/heating the oven (it's an electric cooker).
So i opted for a bread machine and since this model is on offer online at a significant saving, i thought i'd have it as an early birthday present to myself.
Will post a follow up to let you all know how my first attempt has gone...not much longer to wait now...i hope...Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
