that looks lovely, well done
try not to eat it all before morning0 -
Looks really good
That was one thing I liked - it looks more 'loaf-shaped' than the MR ones.0 -
Does anyone use a food slicer for their bread?
The one I have is not great, the last bit of each slice tends to get caught between the blade and the machine.
I was wondering if there is a good machine that people would recommend:)
I have this: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4228211/Trail/searchtext%3ESLICER.htm
(I've had it for a while, paid much less than what it costs right now...)0 -

I have that same food slicer and i brought it when it was less than half price. I originally purchased it to slice my home made bread because i usally slice doorstops! However, it's carp as a bread slicer in my experience. In fact, i came across the receipt for it today and as it's still under guarantee i was thinking about taking it back and asking for a refund.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

I got that one too and also have it sticking on the edges of the bread sometimes but it still beats my doorstep slices! hahaha :rotfl:
ps...be VERY CAREFULL! I just got hubby to slice a loaf for the morning and didn't realise the kneading blade was stuck in the loaf of bread!!!
Luckily we got it out quick and the slicing machine is fine but it was very dangerous and the kneading blade has a little nick on it so it's probably gonna stick in the bread everytime now! :mad:Why does my dog chase cars? Even if he caught one he hasn't passed his test!0 -
A few years ago, I bought a bread knife from Lakeland with a metal guide, called Adjust a slice. It didn't look very good quality, but I can cut thinnish slices for sandwiches within an hour while the bread is still warm. Lakeland don't do them any more, but I've found it to be great. One of my friends found them on a market stall last year, and I wish she'd bought me a spare.
Takes up a lot less space than a slicer too.
bananadog.... Don't worry, my dog chewed mine up to get the last few crumbs off, but it still came out the bread fine.0 -
katholicos what bread recipe is that,it looks lovely,I want to bake that one...is it a basic white on dark crust setting?
terra_ferma I have that argos slicer, bought it 1/2 price last year,I find it OK for small/med loaves but large are too high, the bottom crust does get stuck at the end,I just kinda wiggle it around a bit to release it.
Jazzy_B That is soo funny had me laughing out loud.:rotfl:
Well update on my spicey fruit loaf,OK it took over 6hours and was sunk in the middle(im wondering if my youngest was tempted and lifted the lid tho(perils of no viewing window again),But overall it was nice, tasted better the next day,the cinnamon flavour came through then.wish i could make a smaller one tho.
well so far i have made
spiced fruit loaf- Wheatgerm loaf(tasted lovely but a kinda funny yellow colour--rapid 1hr.55min loaf(my favourite so far)and this morning by using timer overnight ive made a sandwich loaf,it looks very very nice, but is cooling at the moment, and tonight im making pizza dough for HM pizza dinner.
my Kenwood is feeling neglected and redundant at the moment, but only cos my girls are off school/college,and im on holiday from work..once things get back to normal i will need 2 loaves a day anyway,so il probably have both going daily.Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.

It's here:T My Panasonic has landed!
Arrived this morning and has made its first loaf - 100% wholemeal, which the MR couldn't really cope with - and it's perfect, looks like I just bought it from Waitrose:) Tastes really good too, we just shared the crust.
I knew of course that it would be a lot better than the MR, but am relieved the first attempt is so good as I'm not sure OH quite understood why I was buying it. he does now though:T
Btw Waitrose has an offer, 75p off when you buy any 2 bags of their own organic flour. Which actually makes it cheaper than MrT now their white has gone right back up to £1.29:( And it's much better flour.0
