I am thinking of purchasing an SD - 2511 B from amazon and just wondered whether anyone had one and was it worth it please?

Beetroot bread would be perfect for the OH!

I've got one - I 'upgraded' from the previous model and, to be honest, it isn't really any better for me. I got mine from Amazon in a flash sale for £85 so I thought I'd take a chance.... but at least the pan is the same size so that's useful to have.

My old one doesn't have the extra 'lump' on the lid for the auto dispenser - the new lid is more of a fiddle to clean because of the extra seals.

On balance, I'd always buy a Panasonic as they do a great job... so go for it if you need a good bread maker. However, if you're just looking to upgrade an existing model then I'd say don't bother as there is no real difference in the quality of the baking between old and newer models.

Thanks. I have always had Panasonic but after my last one broke, I got married so took on his Morphy Richards - and I hate it with a passion! Needless to say it just sits in the cupboard.

I feel its time to reignite my love for Panasonic :D

I'm very late to this as I've only recently bought one of these great machines. I was sick of the garbage loafs in the supermarket and I also liked the idea of using organic flour to avoid the pesticides that are apparently in most loafs nowadays:

Forgive me, I haven't read through this whole thread but I was wondering anyone got a great multigrain/seeded bread recipe. I want something extra healthy but still tasty with lots of fibre and protein. I haven't a clue on the best place to get the seeds etc for such a loaf so tips on that would be brill if possible.

    thanks

I use flour from Shipton Mill. They deliver to your door and I have the organic one. I have ordered a bread making book to be used with the BM so will keep you posted on that. The seeds you can get from any good supermarket, even Lidl have pumpkin seeds.

I also have a book called The Pink Whisk guide to bread making and there are some cracking recipes in there. An especially lush one for tiger bread is lurking in there! :D

thanks. Yes I have heard Shipton flour is good. I'm currently using Bacheldre four which seems great. Does anyone know a good seed mix product that perhaps contains linseed, sunflower, sesame, millet, pumpkin etc?

A different type of bread entirely but I like the look of this bread as it incorporates eggs which I guess are kind of economical and healthy and the honey that must sweeten it up nicely:

I just buy multi-grain flour and add seeds to the dispenser - there are recipes in the handbook.

With multi-grain flour I just use the basic brown bread program and it is fine.

I use the following brands and they give great results:

    seeded

    Malted grain

I don't bother adding eggs or milk etc to the bread - I prefer mine to be simple.

For storage, I use a tea towel to cover the loaf which keeps it crispy - as opposed to putting it in a plastic box which I find makes the crust too soft for my liking.

My great grandma always used to put a tea towel over her bread!

Seriously BM, go and have a look in Lidl if you have one close. They have a linseed mix along with lots of other seed mixes.

The bread maker should be arriving today and I am very excited! How sad am I?? :rotfl:

The Matthews Cotswold Flour (? Organic edit - some of them) is fantastic. So many different varieties. I spotted it first when Aldi had a pallet in once, but this only comes around once in a while. Then, ASDA began to stock it (only 4 of the varieties inc multigrain). I cannot recommend highly enough. I've spotted it on Amazon also. I'm quite happy to throw in sunflower/pumpkin/poppy seeds to a white flour for a change, but I don't really use the dispenser.

I've read that there's a new Panasonic Breadmaker out which does sourdough bread. Has anyone got this machine and if so, can they share the recipe. I've got the 2502 model and I'm wondering if I can tweak the ciabatta recipe somehow.
