I have no problem in my veg lasting, but I also have no problem in eating something which doesn't look 'perfect'.

I keep everything in the fridge in the packet it comes in. I do use green veg bags for loose veg.

I keep all fruit, veg (except spuds) and salad in the fridge, taken out of any packaging (other than peppers, they stay in the plastic). I have no trouble in it lasting a week, as long as it wasn't on offer or close to its use by date.

  • I have found that lining my fridge veg boxes with clean, dry tea towels absorbs moisture and seems to help veg from becoming soggy

Yes my veg lasts as I try to only shop for stuff as I actually need it and stay away from shops as much as possible.I store my fruit in my conservatory which keeps it cool Today I ate a pear and the last two plums which I bought last friday and they were fine I have left in there 2 oranges and 4 apples so I won't buy any more until they are eaten but the oranges are almost two weeks old and the apples are over a week.In my fridge in a tall lock and lock box in water I have some carrots peeled and ready for when I need them they are last weeks and wrapped in foil in the drawer at the bottom is celery as it keeps lovely and crisp if in foil and in the other bit of the bottom wrapped also in foil is the remaider of my savoy cabbage which is over a week old.I live alone so I find that vegatables if stored well do last I never keep stuff in plastic wrap as i find it does make it go a bit 'mushy' and soft.not very appetising. If I have veg thats going over a bit I use it in HM soup.Brussles if peeled and put in fresh water daily keep very well.Spuds I peel in bulk and keep again in water in the fridge I change the water daily so its fresh and that way I always have potatoes ready for use.I have been peeling my bulk spuds every Sunday morning whilst listening to The Archers for over 40 years from when my children were small.I always try to do the prep in advance for the week.Gets all the peeling and chopping out of the way. mushrooms I peel and put into a little lock'n'lock box in the fridge. along with chopped peppers.I have an round plastic bowl gadget with a spike in it that I bought from the bettaware catalogue years ago that will keep a lettuce fresh and crisp for ages .You just impale the iceberg in the spike and cover with the lid and just tear off as much as you need at a time.I never use a metal knife for cutting lettuce off as it makes the lettuce go brown very quickly.

Yes, but I do try to buy stuff that I know will last like cabbage, squash, root veg. If I buy peppers or broccoli I take them out of the wrap and store them in the fridge. My meal plans are never perfect, I don't set exact days for meals (i have this freedom as i cook for one!) and "veg stew" will just contain which ever vegetables need eating that day!

Yep I keep everything except spuds, onions and squash in the fridge and find it easily lasts a week or more - I have no idea whan I bought the red cabbage we had last night but I know it was yellow stickered when we did and was at least 3 weeks old lol!! I do take everything out of the pastic and if I have some thing mroe fragile like mushroons, of brocolli I plan to use it earlier in the week

Mine lasts more than a week. I have a sack of potatoes in the kitchen, sitting on the cold floor. The fruit is in the bowl on the kitchen table, except some that is in the fridge to help jeep it for longer. Everything else is in the fridge. Onions, I bought a sack from the farm shop in November, they are fine, still using them. Carrots and broccoli etc I buy the basic bags from MrS and they last for a fortnight or so. Mushroom are the only thing that don't last.

I put mushrooms in a paper bag and keep them in the salad drawer in the fridge. Most other veg is washed, dried and put in those green plastic fresh-bag thingys I bought in the pound shop. Dunno if they make any difference but they keep for at least a week in the salad drawer. Spuds, carrots and onions are stored in the coolest, darkest place in the kitchen and keep for weeks. I have a butter-nut squash I bought on offer six weeks ago and it's still looking OK.

I've just finished potatoes I bought before Christmas. Carrots I store in an outside dry store room, and they last better that way, but not forever.

Things that should clamp for the winter easily last a week or two in the home, but salads etc I don't get a week ahead if they do last I consider it a bonus.

I tend to buy a big box of mushrooms as they are most cost effective, when I get home I take the cling film off and tip out the mushrooms, then line the plastic box with kitchen roll and put the mushrooms back in.

I have a mushrooms still from sunday that I expect to last most of next week.

Carrots I keep in the fridge, if they are looking a bit dry or limp just pop them in a glass of water in the morning when you go off to work and they will be firm when you get home.
