Its getting a bit saucy for the motoring board!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

It is almost impossible to match the colour exactly as everyone has said already. I cannot believe that you would even think of bothering to try and get money back for this. You say in your first post...Although whoever signed for the job on completion was the customer and signed to say they were satisfied with the quality of the work done at the time.
So you have no chance of getting the money back or the work done for free. The car is 7 years old anyway, and it hasn't bothered you until now!0 -
I know - but how else could you liven up a 7 years old paint job?Its getting a bit saucy for the motoring board!
Besides, I work with mechanics (technicians if you are in a stealership) all day and its innuendos all day long..............
But seriously, I do need a touch up job, but they ignore me when I ask for one!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:Genie

I wouldn't be making a claim against the person I bought the car from... it was bought from private individual... so sold as seen.
I think you've answered your own question there to be honest. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Haha... some people here make things too personal. Calling others a "wastrel" and all sorts.
Not all of us are well (or even remotely) versed on consumer rights and contract law.
I was/am not bothered about the paint on the door as far as having an urgent need to get it resprayed, however, I wasn't sure if I was "entitled/had the right" to see if I could get the job done by the company again. It was simply a case of "If I can... then why not". Call it cheeky ...agreed, but I would never go as far as demanding that the garage re-do the work.
is it a crime for me to find out if I have some legal protection and excercise my rights (even if it does mean being pedantic)?! I came on here to find out but it appears you can get slated for having the audacity to ask for some advice/direction.
Similarly, many of us are not aware of the technicalities around spray painting etc. Many of us would always expect a paint to match providing you have the correct paint code. Yes common sense would say that after a period of time (?) the original paint may not be as intended from the factory... but this less than 6 months after first registration.
In my first post I acknowledged that I wasn't the original customer and so had no contract. I acknowledged that it was a considerable time ago. I acknowledged that I had bought it sold as seen so was not in dispute with seller.
Thank you all anyway0 -
It surely is a case of common sense! And it was not applied in this case.0

There's no way you have any right to any repair. You don't have a contract with the original repairer, and even if you did, after 6 years any claim would be timed out, and that's not even taking into consideration of other factors like, acceptance of the repair as satisfactory, expectant quality of the repair to last a certain length of time.
If the OP did have a contract with the original repairer could the Latent Damage Act 1986 not come into play to override the usual 6 year limitation?0 -
