Baliff arriving tomorrow to take belongings

  • Councils can take an account back from the bailiff - under exeptional circumstances - try again, you will still be liable for bailiff fees but come up with an offer that will clear the debt pretty quickly and hopefully you will get an adviser that is on your side.

    Hi

have you contacted your local councillor, they may be able to talk the CT office into halting action whilst you get things together?

One ex CT staff member said it was the one thing they never liked as they had to halt action in the short-term.

  • Good idea RAS but make sure you are with your councillor if he phones/ visits the council on your behalf as they may refuse to speak to them due tothe data protection act they will need your permission to discuss your account with the councillor.

Some helpful advice to follow, thank you to everyone who has offered advice. The Baliff is coming at 9:30am tomorrow so not sure if I will have time to get anything done to stop him in such a short space of time. We are going to dig out our copy of the walking possession order so we can see what we can move to my mums before he arrives. The laptop definately isn't on there, but the main pc that the wifi is connected to is so I'm not sure if I will be able to get online tomorrow to let you guys know what happened. I'm sure I will be fine though. Wish me luck!

Hi guys, thanks for thinking of me. I have just quickly sneaked on the internet at work. The guy did not turn up! I sat in all day (til about half 3 when I had to come to work anyway) worried sick! I don't know if he has showed up after then, will have to see when OH picks me up. If he hasn't bothered to show up at all I will be really annoyed. This is really stressful, I don't need it dragged out!! Grrrr.

    hi

One bailiff said that they do not want goods, they want pay and it is often only when they get the goods lined up in the doorway that they know whether people are cant pay or wont pay.

perhaps he has realised that you are cannot pay?

maybe talk to NDl and make an offer of monthly payment again.

Hi, we rang him up today to see what was going on. It seems he is still in the stage of trying to frighten us into giving him money. To be honest it is working. He kept going on about having us arrested and us going to prison if we can't come up with £500 within the week and our goods aren't worth the full amount of the debt. He won't tell us when he will come round to seize our goods, he said it could be anytime he likes. He must have noticed the car the other day when he came round originally as he said he has checked and he knows that the car is registered to us (don't know if that is a bluff or not) and he will be taking it. Even though he knows that my boyfriend is a delivery driver so needs the car to earn a wage!! I am at work now but have just rang boyfriend to give him number for the baliff helpline above to see what they say.

I wouldn't mind as much but we thought we were paying this as some moron at the council offices said we could pay it to them directly and we were told the other day that we can't and the money we have paid has only gone on to the current years council tax! Aaarrggggghhh.
