Hi Guys,
I’ve booked a Ford Escape or similar through Holiday Autos for 11 days in Orlando but confuddled by which Insurance I’ll require?,I’m guessing it’s probaly covered in this thread but I’ll admit it’s making me feel rather dumb so if someone could point me in the right direction It’ll be much appreciated.0 -
I was using Easyrentcars.com two times. Booking our rental car was fast and easy and there was a large selection of vehicles available for a busy holiday long weekend and I saved a lot of money. I'm going to book with them again for my Christmas trip.0

Do i just take out a "Worldwide Excess & Americas CDW Insurance/SLI" policy and then make sure I refuse any Ins offered once we get to the States?0 -
What they'll probably offer over there is cover for loss of keys, mis-fueling, damage to underside of car, stuff like that. I never bother, I believe others take out insurance here to cover such things. I'll let them tell you about that or you can just search this forum, it's been covered many times.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Hi I’m late to this post but how do I claim against EasyCar who guaranteed their ‘agent’ in Lanzarote would provide a 2018 reg car, and have responded with the agent (Thrifty) did not have one available. They did - it was offered to me at an extra cost - Easycar ‘guaranteed’ this in their deal and are now saying it could not be guaranteed, so no compensation!0

The Easirent branch near Southampton Airport bullied my wife into paying for excess insurance. She had standalone insurance, she showed them the certificate, she read out the statement the standalone insurance company provides, she offered to put the £1260 on her credit card, she told them she knew the system and didn't need or want it, but they kept insisting. She needed the car to get to her mum, who was ill. In the end, after a fair bit of trying, she gave up and paid. This more than doubled the cost of the car hire.
Complaints to Easirent and BVRLA just end up with "you signed so tough".
If this happens to you, and you feel you have to pay, write on the document you sign to say you do not want to pay but you are not being allowed to have the car without paying (and take a photo of it). That should make complaining possible later.0 -

I had a similar experience with Holiday Autos and Hertz/Thrifty, posted here

Does anyone else have criminally bad experience with Easirent? On 8th October I was late collecting my car at BHX. I had rung and informed you of the flight delay in advance and was thanked and assured of no change in prices. At BHX shuttle point I met two angry Americans alighting from the Easirent shuttle bus who advised me to be careful at Easirent as they had left in disgust WITHOUT THEIR CAR at an attempt to ‘upgrade’ at a cost to them because their small car wasn’t available.
On arrival at the office I walked past a yard and garage full of vehicles including the small type I had booked. I was informed that as I was late my car had been released and I was obliged to pay £67.20 for a larger model. (The same reason the Americans had left.)
I recorded all the subsequent conversation on my telephone.
My circumstances were such that I needed to get to Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital and although I protested loudly and accused them of fraud because of the cars available in the yard and garage, I had to agree to pay. On leaving I photographed the cars available and the operative who dealt with me. I saw the booking schedule screen and noted that no more than four cars were due to go out that day. I picked up the huge Renault SUV I had allocated and left. This was a huge petrol-guzzling monster that I did not want.
On 11th October I was obliged to extend my hire by one more day and had to pay the higher rental charge of £42 for the day. In this transaction I gave all my credit card details but my credit card was allegedly declined and I was obliged to use a different debit card.
At 0030 hours that night attempts were used to purchase items using my credit card and debit card details to obtain pizza and a cycle. I have had to cancel all my cards. No one else has the credit card details as it was new, to satisfy the requirements of your hire.
I complained to Easirent and received a standard "read the small print" reply, but as far as I am concerned they tricked me out of £150.0 -
Hi,
Can anyone please recommend a hire company or comparison site for a 9 seater? You can have God without religion!0 -
Hi, first post so sorry if I break any rules; I have just booked a hire car ["Mondeo or equivalent"] for 2 days, to be collected on landing at Knock airport later this year, for £47 which is great. They wanted £26 excess waiver cover so I followed the advice on this site and took out excess reimbursement insurance with Bettersafe. I now have cover for up to £6000, for £1.60 plus £0.19 IPT. This seems too good to be true, or am I being cynical? Has anyone had to claim with Bettersafe?0
