  • maybe the miles will come out of your account once you check in and fly....could be that as it is miles it may be a standby situation until you fly and then the miles will be taken out of your account.

My OH was messing about in our Continental booking and he managed to upgrade one of our flights to First! (Vegas - New York) But we don't know how!
Im worried that he's used our Virgin mile as they are getting the miles from this trip, but when i checked my Flying Club account, all my miles were still there! And he wasn't asked for credit card details.

We have email confirmation so im hoping they won't downgrade us again. Has this happened to anyone else?? I don't want to get my hopes up in case there is a mistake!

Just so you know US domestic first class is nothing to write home about. You're looking at 38" seat pitch, no personal TV.

International first class is 70-80" lie-flat beds, Krug, the works.

I'd make sure it's not costing you anything, because it's not worth much!
  • has it let you select first class seats ?

Yes! Im really worried now in case we have blown all our miles on a 5 hour flight upgrade. Im a bit scared to ring Continental, i don't want to confirm that i'm a TOTAL idiot..... :rotfl:

Input your flight reference into Checkmytrip.com

It may give you the details (not sure as you are using Reward miles).

TBH, if it was me (and I would be as worried as you are) I would ring and check. If the upgrade is not worth as much to you as the possibility that you might lose your Flying Club miles, as you are saving them for something special, then I'd rather know for sure and stop worrying about it.

    I'm in agreement with jackieblack.
I'd not risk using up miles for an upgrade for a relatively short journey, especially as the upgrade doesn't sound so great.

I'm sure that Continental won't think you're an idiot if you ring them, and at least it would put your mind at rest.
You don't want to spoil the anticipation of your holiday by worrying about this.

But, it might be a good idea to keep your OH away from your booking from now on.....:rotfl:
  • We have always been told that as a rule of thumb, it is HIGHLY unusual that an economy traveller would be upgraded to 1st class, they usually state an upgrade of 1 category only if the plane is overbooked, so you would be going to business, and those who had paid for business to 1st class, commonsense if you think about it,but good luck anyway, miracles can happen!!

As a previous member has already said ,if its a US domestic flight company i wouldnt be tooo concerned if you dont get the upgrade, as business/1st class is usually nothing to write home about any way, only european/asian/uae/ etc anything worth shouting about. American flights are usually complete with surly staff and not fab service.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to email them and see what they say. Im hoping we can down-grade again if it's using all our miles....
