Upgraded to First Class - but how???

My OH was messing about in our Continental booking and he managed to upgrade one of our flights to First! (Vegas - New York) But we don't know how!
Im worried that he's used our Virgin mile as they are getting the miles from this trip, but when i checked my Flying Club account, all my miles were still there! And he wasn't asked for credit card details.
We have email confirmation so im hoping they won't downgrade us again. Has this happened to anyone else?? I don't want to get my hopes up in case there is a mistake!

Yes it has, about 2 years ago i booked economy flights to San Francisco and when i went to manage my booking somehow i was in upper class. I even selected my seats.
Within a couple of days id had an email apologising for gremlins in the system and un ceremoniously downgraded back to economy.
But you never know! Cross your fingers0 -

Oh no!! I would not have been happy!
But he was given the option to upgrade in the booking and when he clicked, it was successful. I am so paranoid they will take my precious Virgin miles. Im saving them for a discount in Upper next year...Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

Had you logged into the flying club?0 -
I have been upgraded to first class by accident, and subsequently downgraded whilst boarding the plane ("Can we ask Mr Sam Bee to make himself known to check in staff ").
However, they 'downgraded' me to Business Class, and as i'd paid for economy I was still happy. This was with Etihad btw.0 -

Yes, my precious miles are still there. Im quite baffled. We have only flown with Continental once, economy to New York in 2005, so i doubt we had enough miles for an upgrade.
Im afraid to phone and ask in case they realise it was a mistake! :rotfl:Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

I'd do the same tbh, just cross your fingers and when you turn up at the airport you'll find out!

If I was you I would just keep quiet and see what happens. If they downgrade you again then you've lost nothing and if you end up in First then it's happy days. This space has been intentionally left blank0
