Barclays pin sentry

ive got a pin sentry but ive got an rbs account and its not bulky, its not too big,
Would it be considered bulky if, for example, you had to carry 2 or more of them around?
Or would it fit comfortably into a trouser pocket for example?Conjugating the verb 'to be":

It's a waste of time.
I went into Barclays and registered for on-line banking.
They sent me a PinSentry.
I went into Barclays and told them I wanted to close my account because they sent me a PinSentry. I was told not to close my account as I could be registered for on-line banking without a PinSentry and that I should have been given this option when I registered for on-line banking.
They sent me a letter saying I couldn't be registered for on-line banking without a PinSentry as I was registered for online banking with a PinSentry.
I cut up my paying in book, cheque book and debit card and sent it to Barclays along with this.
They didn't transfer my balance to my Halifax account as requested so I had to make a complaint after which they sent me a cheque.0 -
You'll probably find the hardware is exactly the same for a large number of banks - just with a different badge stuck to it, e.g. your PINsentry will work with NatWest too.Paul_Herring wrote: »I think they're an abysmal idea. I already have an SID for one of my online (non-financial) accounts, I don't want to start having to carry around a PIN Sentry for every account I have for whenever I need to access to my bank accounts from work and/or home. I currently access (4) current accounts with 3 institutions, savings accounts with a further 2 institutions and on top of that, credit cards with yet another 2 institutions.
That's a minimum of 5 institutions with cards, maximum of 7 including the savings.
Am I really expected to deal with up to 7 authentication devices? Even assuming some of them may be interchangeable, I think it rather optimistic to assume that I can just keep one at home and one at work to access all those accounts.
I have 3 devices, one at work, one at home and one in the glovebox, I've been using the system for around a year now with no problem.0 -

Can I have my £5 back please0 -
I dont think the device is big or bulky, its small like a pocket calculator.
Its not rocket science to use, and doesnt really take any longer to log on than before. The banks do need to ensure fraud is kept at bay as much as possible and the pin sentry makes me feel safer than just a password that can be key logged if you have a virus etc. Yes, the anti-virus should catch it but better to be safe than sorry.0 -
I actually think the PINsentry is a great idea.. not only does it eradicate the need for the ten digit long identification number which is a pain but I have to use my PIN number to be able to access my account online.. exactly the same principle as using your chip and pin to purchase in a store or online.0

How exactly does PINSentry protect you from (others?) transactions not originating from your online banking?

It doesn't eradicate the ten digit long identification number - you still have to use that. It just replaces the 5 digit passcode and your password.
Personally I still find it a pain after several months. Fortunately only my account has been upgraded to Pin Sentry - my wife's is still the old way and we have joint accounts (ahem).0
