I don't have PINsentry on the Barclays accounts I have (or on any other bank accounts with other institutions.)

It is coming, I got it for my Business Account last November and my husband has just received it for his current account about 2 months ago. If you have had a new card but have not had your card reader get onto Barclays.

Mind you, it is a pain in the backside, I hardly log on these days as I can't be bothered to faff around with it!! Apparently all the Card Readers are the same so I could use my husbands and vice versa.

I don't see how the PINsentry works. It doesn't communicate with the computer or internet, so how does the website know if you've put the same code in as on the PINsentry?

I can put any of my cards in: Co-op, Lloyds, A&L and Barclays, they all give me a code. I confused about it all.

pinsentry is a card reader that looks like a pocket calculator but you can insert a debit card

it read the debit card and uses an algorithm to generate a 8 digit number which is then typed into the online computer which can check its your debit card.

each time you use it it generates a different number and different debit cards generate different numbers...

Thanks for that , but my gosh I hope my bank doesn't do that. How ANNOYING.
Of course, I won't be saying that once my card gets hit by fraud... hasn't happened yet but I've probably been lucky!

Would that mean, if you go overseas, you would have to take the card reader with you to be able to purchase online?
