I don't see why it wouldnt freeze, I've frozen sponges with buttercream topping and they've been fine, take it out of the packing to thaw ;)

you could freeze it in slices?
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

    Hi All,

My son has been given a lovely chocolate/cream birthday cake specially made from a baker it is far too big to use can the cake be frozen as it would be a shame to waste.

    thanks

Cake too big? That doesn't happen in our house....

Yes you can,in fact its a better option to do this than to leave it in the fridge. We often freeze samples if we have a lot to do,and take them out of the freezer to thaw at room temp.
