I'm currently with BT due a very similar problem.
Signed up with Utility Warehouse, and had second thoughts - so cancelled. I got a letter from UW saying the order had been cancelled and spoke with TT about going to Talk 1 from Talk 3. They advised me that I was pending a move.
Told me to speak with BT as they are the only ones that could stop it. BT couldn't see the pending transfer.
Cut a long story short, I ended up at UW Inc line rental (according to BT).
BT initiated a transfer back to them. That was about 1 month ago.

I decided to take the plung this morning (again) and take up TT Talk 3 offer of free 6 months then £7.99 after.
They tell me that the only lock in is for 3 months because of line rental transfer. So after 6 months, I can go to Talk 1, and re-program the orchard dialler to 18866 again - mind you £7.99 is quite good!
The only other thing, although their line rental is 51p cheaper, you have to pay £1.50 PM for caller display making them dearer than BT now you can get free Caller ID, but hey, I get free calls!

Have you decided what you are doing because isn't your free evening&weekend offer up soon?

You could move to TalkTalk's free 6month offer but as you know that means transferring line rental. It's a 3-month minimum term when transferring line rental so if they block the use of other carriers during this time it isn't that long before you could move back your line rental to BT.
