Update
Not much had been happening on the creditor side, I have had one statement from NDR which has gone in the file with the rest. No telephone calls so far from our creditors.
I recieved my cheque for £5 from Tombola yesterday - it only took 2 working days to get here.
Tomorrow is the earliest I can find out if I have been successful in being accepted for a co-op basic cashminder account.
Now 15 days until our bankruptcy date.0 -
Phoned co-op a little while ago to check if my application for a cashminder account had been passed. I was told that the application had been successful and the account had been opened, they are sending me out a welcoming pack which should be here in the next few days.
I am not trusting the information I have been told until I get the welcome pack, bank card and pin number in my hand.0 -

I have recieved my welcome pack from the co-op bank this morning. The letter that came with it had my new account number on it. I was told in the letter that my Visa Electron card should be here within 7 days.
So hopefully things are looking up with reguards to having a bank account post bankruptcy.
13 days to go :eek:0 -
Good one. Don't forget if you want to do on-line banking you have to ring them and register.DFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

Hi Jaks,
Glad to see things are going well for you.
It's an unbelievable feeling - relief, freedom, happiness - when you go BR. Ours was end of July.
I hadn't realised just how stressed I had actually been, until it was lifted! OK, so I wasn't too proud of myself for allowing things to get so bad in the first place, but sometimes BR is the only way out.
I set up a basic account with Barclays prior to going BR and so far have had no problems with it being frozen, but early days yet.
If you have any problems completing the forms, other than coming on here of course, there should be a phone number on your paperwork - the people on the end of the line are absolutely brilliant, and helped us along every step of the way. Real angels.
We also had lots of phone calls (and letters, emails) from people we owed, all threatening this that and the other. Also had some from a few debt collecting agencies. We have a phone with caller ID, and simply didnt answer any whose number we didn't recognise. I know burying your head in the sand isn't a perfect answer but it got us through to the bankruptcy.
Since going BR, I have REALLY enjoyed answering the phone to them
They don't call anymore now.
All the best, and if you have any questions, problems, or worries, bring them here. This forum is a real breath of fresh air.0 -
I got my co-op visa electron through the post today :j :j :j , I am going to phone up co-op to set up internet banking. I guess that the account is now fully operational, I am still worried that I will get a call or a letter saying that they made a mistake and are going to close the account.
I hope that this new acount doesn't get frozen by the OR as this is where we are going to get our benefits paid into. I am going to change over the payments to the new account the day or the day after bankruptcy if the account gets approved by the OR.
I got a letter from NDR (National Debt Recovery Limited) demanding that I pay off my arrears by 14th September, If I don't do this they will put my account into default.
Good luck to them as we are filling for bankruptcy on the 4th September.0 -
Make sure when you ring for internet banking you have your list of security questions/answers. They ask for about 5 different ones and a sec number.Make sure you have a pen and paper as well as they are case sensitive and a any spaces have to be put into the answers as well. DFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

Thanks dalip.
I had a leaflet in my welcome pack about phone banking and internet banking, It lists the 5 questions they ask. I did have one problem, It was with my memorable name that I chose. I couldn't log on to internet banking bacause i was told my memorable name was wrong, I got it wrong 5 times and got de-registered for on line banking, I phoned them up and checked my memorable name info and they had the spelling wrong.
They soon sorted it out and now my on line banking is up and running :j :j :j .0
