Got ours, my Dad got there at 8.05, and nobody else turnedup until 8.40...
I haven't (and unfortunetly won't) be able to see it until 22nd September, but my Dad's gone through it all and says it's very good.
Even better, we have a BT Home Hub which is pretty rubbish, but the laptop will pick up the wireless in the garden
As for the 3GB ram, I'll be needing this for Video editing, and you need a fair bit for Vista to run efficiently anyway.0 -
The atom chip is a good step forward; it only uses about 9 watts idle and goes to 20 watts on full load! The msi uses the same chip as the eee. The chip helps the eee last about 7 hours which is excellent. I don't understand why you'd want to watch movies in your home with a laptop when you can use your TV. I like to watch movies on my laptop when away from the house, but not if my laptop ways a tons.
Everyone has got their preferences, I'm just trying to point out that 3GB RAM is completely excessive for virtually everyone who isn't doing serious work on their laptop, the latest dual-core chip is not going to improve you experience much if you're just doing internet/email etc. These kinds of specs are reaching their limit for the majority of people and, as such, other things become more important like weight, battery life and reliability.0 -
Morning! My wife and I got to Aldi's at 8.00 yesterday morning. We were the first people there. Next couple came at 8.30, then another two at 8.45. Just before 9.00 several more people came. When they opened the doors at 9.00 I went straight to the centre of the store to 'grab' a laptop. Then we saw that the other people had gone straight to the till to get theirs, so we were then in the last place! Which rather pee'd me off after having been there first. I was told that this was the usual way it was done. I now know what to do next time.
At least I got one. Our son has been transferring files etc (I am no techie) He thinks it is a very good laptop.
Alls well that ends well.0 -

My dad's queued for about 5 computers now, and once they gave tickets out to those in the queue to get a laptop.0 -
Can I just ask those of you who bought this laptop what the battery life is? Doesn't say on the box (just that it's long!!) and OH is determined to get one with at least 2 to 3 hours if not more!!! They've got 2 left in our store.
Plus apart from vista (it is premium?) what other software comes with it?
Many thanks
Techno

I've got a Medion laptop, an older one I got cheap from Woolworths as it had no power adaptor. It's solidly built, not the fastest machine in the world but it did what I wanted it to - surf the net and the odd bit of word processing! The processor is a 'Via' one which I'd not heard of before but does the job fine. Not sure about that particular model the OP mentioned, but I've never had a problem with my laptop!Total debt as at Jul 2012: Too much!0
