I am looking for a decent laptop and I see that Aldi are going to have this one for sale on Thursday.

Is it a good deal?
Has anyone bought one of their laptops? It has a three year warranty, which is better than most other offers.
Thanks in advance

The medion laptops and desktops are very good VFM, they are built very well too, better than most big brands in the same price band, features are generous and overall looks like a good machine, I agree the 3 year warranty is good too, you will not get that PC World of patter or currys, I would say go for it, if I had the spare coin I would!Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

One of my neighbours, who's quite a techie, swears by Aldi's computers and buys them for his family. He's always been very impressed by their build quality and specs for the money. And has never needed to make a warranty claim.
By contrast, he swears about PC World.
If you like the spec and the price, go for it.

Is this a bit expensive given what processor it is? I have been looking at getting this one from Tesco, I am assuming the Fujitsu processor is a lot better?

Fujitsu are of poor build quality and after-sales is crap, I work as an IT Support Engineer in my day job and could have slapped my predecessor for buying this inferior junk, believe me they are unreliable and made from tat.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? The Fujitsu's processor is a fair bit better. But the Medion will have longer battery life + bigger hard disk and eSATA, and as stated, probably better build quality.Russia is HERE0

I personally would take "quality" over a few MHz of "unnoticeable" speed, the medion by technical spec and definition is the better choice of the two, final thought to the OP, weigh up the evidence at hand.

Hi, I also swear by the medion computers, and in fact, I am going to buy the same laptop (or rather get it for my birthday
)
Unfortunetly I reckon they will be gone early, they open at 9AM, so be there for 8:30AM.0 -

Something tells me that you will, though...
And you should. Seriously, and for this reason. From the moment that it's purchased, your consumer rights start to lessen, day by day, week by week.
So, it's essential that you open it up and start using it immediately, to establish whether or not any of its components are faulty.
If you wait six weeks or so before you do this, and you then find something is wrong with it (for example this carefully built and shipped computer was dropped by some fool in your local store the day before you bought it but he was too scared to tell anyone) you will find that some of your rights to return it have already expired.
More to the point, if you wait six weeks and there IS something wrong with it, by then there will be no more left for Aldi to replace it with.
So, just this year have an early birthday :bdaycake: . Go ahead, open it up and check it out on Thursday.
I'm sure you'll somehow be able to force yourself to do that.
And who knows? By September we may be having an Indian Summer and then you'd want to spend your real birthday out in the sun, instead.
Problem solved. :money:
