Helllloooo everyone! Thanks all for posting while I've been AWOL again. Sorry I've been lousy, but we had a lovely week in the Lake District (well, poor-man's Lake District - Sun hol in a Haven caravan on Cark aerodrome) and had my parents with us here all week so I've barely had 2 minutes to switch the computer on.

The good news is that my parents (bless them) paid for just about every single thing they could on hol - my dad's over the moon as he's been saving the money he hasn't spent since he stopped smoking to buy a brand new Audi A3, and with a bit of wheeling-dealing, I got £3k off the list price for him, so he's been feeling quite generous. He hadn't even thought of haggling  . The bad news is that I must have put on at least 35 stone in the past fortnight. Never mind, the fat reserves will see me through the winter :D:o

We're planning on doing car boot tomorrow. DH and I absolutely hate car boot - it's a dirty word in our house, but we've spent most of today in the freezing cold filling the familywagon full of tat so even if it's chucking it down tomorrow (more than likely) we'll be there. Needless to say, I am NOT looking forward to it. Lauradora - if you're around this evening any advice on the Keepmoat carboot would be appreciated!

Hi Lunar :hello: good to hear from you especially - I was starting to worry about you when I hadn't seen you around for a while. I keep thinking about whether or not Junior has arrived - off now to check your diary for any news.

Glad you had a good week away, even better that you didnt have to pay out too much. Do your family know about paying off your debts? I never told mine and dont think i will, they are very sensible with money so i was never brave enough to tell them! They just think i am really good with spending and prob imagine i have plenty of savings.

Did you enjoy the car boot? hopefuly it was worh while for you, at least there wasnt any rain and it wasnt too cold.

    Hi panda

Didn't see your Saturday post - how are you now that the weekend is over? Did you do the carboot? Any good? Hope it was.

Car boot was - literally - a washout. Spent Saturday loading the car, got up at 5am (WHY don't they do them in the afternoon?), arrived at 6am in the p***ing rain to be told they were going to wait a bit and see how the weather was before deciding whether to cancel or not. Sat in the car until 8am doing nothing then came home and unloaded all the tat back into the garage. Major    pandas! More annoying is that when we got up at 5 we weren't going to bother because of the weather but because it's the only chance for at least another month we thought we'd give it a go anyway, as we'd got the weather forecast from work for the morning and it was supposed to clear up between 8 and 9 (which it did - it was a beautiful sunny day - even more    ). I HATE CAR BOOT!!!

    (Rant over:o )

Lunar, both my family and DH's would completely keel over if they had the faintest idea of how much debt we've got! My mum saw something on TV about a family with 10k of debt and was absolutely shocked that anybody could owe anywhere near that amount of money. The only finance they've ever had in their lives was their mortgage and a car loan (once, years ago). They once got talked into getting a Frasercard, spent £50 on it, and nearly had a fit when they got the bill and there was about £2 interest, so closed it immediately! So no, they have no idea whatsoever and it's hopefully going to stay that way.

As always, Greg woke up the minute I switched the computer on so I'd best go stop him screaming the place down. I will catch up on everyone else soon...somehow...

    Bah to all things car-boot-esque........

What are you going to do with all the stuff now?

Rent another £120 a month storage unit for it :rotfl:

Nah, we'll just leave it piled up in the garage until the next opportunity, tho goodness knows when that'll be. We've got a double garage so it isn't too much of a problem, it's the rest of the stuff that we hadn't sorted through that's bugging me. But we should be rid of the storage unit by the end of the month. Should I give my 4 weeks notice now or will I regret it?

Give in the notice only if you know there is a reasonable chance of getting it all emptied by the time you need to leave. If your life is anything like mine (obviously calm and ordered) you may need to defer it and block out the 4 week period to sort it out, otherwise you could end up leaving it until the last minute (who, me?!) and end up in a bigger muddle than you would like!
