Hi i baught the MR from boots a couple of weeks ago but mine was £39.99 .Im quite happy with mine now ive sorted and played around with the ingredients as if i follow the instruction book word for word the loaf comes out like a heavy weight block.I add ingredients in any order now too as i dont think it makes any difference to the bread but water last so nothing sticks to the measuring cup :rotfl: .I have only use proper strong bread flour and sachets of yeast and havnt tried bread with value flour yet..I bake the large sandwich one daily and it all gets eaten (family of two) takes 3hrs.It comes out nice and fluffy and tastes so nice, hot or cold, even the crust is scrummy. Its so easy to use and you havnt got to trawl through a huge manual before you get started either.I know most members go on about the panasonic being the best but mine was free with my points and im quite happy with it.You dont even need to buy any scales either as you just use the measuring cups/spoons inside
PS i always use a full sachet of yeast in my 1.5lb loaf.0 -
Would you mind sharing the recipe you use, as I am not happy with the bread I am getting at all (it is more like a brick, and not fluffy at all!)0

Oh, yes please!
I have the Hinari BM, and my bread comes out like a brick too!!Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
There are several threads with help on dodgy loaves in our Complete Breadmaking Collection sticky, with more listed in the index of the main breadmaking thread; all of which should help you towards better bread.

Ive got the MR fastbake from Argos (was £34.99 a couple of weeks ago, £10 off!!!) and its excellent. Ive not had any probs with it, and the one i had last year that went wrong, they took back and gave me my money back straight away, which, although not good that it went wrong, very good at the customer service!!!!! My bread comes out fine, i even make my own bread up, adding all sorts of things they havnt said (and leaving things out, like the salt!!!) and not had any bricks yet (if i dont remove the bread quickly after it has finished, it does go funny on the top tho!!!) Dough is also fine, although ive not tried the jams or cakes yet!!!
I know the one in Boots is a different one, but i can recomend MR!!!!0 -
Also got a MR fastbake...very happy baker & pizza chef over here as a result. Had a couple of problems, but suspect that was due to dodgy flour or yeast.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Another MR fan here too. I've got the fast bake and I'm loving it too.I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0

Hmmm - perhaps mine has a problem then! The pizza dough cam out lovely, but the basic bread recipe is more "cakey" than bread! I would expect a fluffy "light" loaf, as opposed to a victoria sponge!
I am convinced I just need to find a better recipe (the standard one's 3tbsp of sugar is waaaay to high for a start!) and if others are having better success now they have changed - I would like to try that too (before I give up on it)!
MR customer services recommended using less yeast (which I have done) and I have not had much improvement! Also, the bread seems quite "yellow" as opposed to white.
I have tried the following flour:
Allinsons Strong
Allinsons Very strong
Harvest Gold Strong
and numerous different yeasts all to no avail!0 -
Please bear in mind that you won't get supermarket style bread. That stuff is blown full of air to make it light and fluffy. The HM stuff is heavier and thicker, but it is so much more yummy and filling (in my opinion anyway)
Reminder to self....must make some tomorrow.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

I only ever put 1 spoon of sugar (it recomends 2) and i dont add salt. Often i will put 1 spoon of yeast, not the 1 1/4 it recomends, and ive never had any probs. like i said earlier, i do find if i leave the bread in the machine once it has finished, it gets a bit damp, and sometimes the crust collapses a bit, the bread still tastes great tho!!!!0
