I know it's only August but are we having a Christmas card list again this year?

Can do... I'll collect names and addresses of those who wish to take part later int he year though.. I am NOT sending out cards before the children go back to school.. lol.. Last year I collected them throughout October and sent the lists out in November so will aim to do the same this year!

Thanks everyone . you have made me cry. I will definitely see someone. Thanks.

He has just told me that he is coming home and I told him I would go out if he wants and he said yes. Wish he had said that he wanted me to stay here. I don't know if he thinks that I want to go out and want me to go because I will be happy or if he just wants to come round see the kids then go back to mummy.

Hmmm maybe I am thinking to much.

Just take it as it comes for now - if he is only there to see the kids then fine you can cope with that too! If he is wanting you to go out for yourself then great!
Whatever the reason go out and do something for you - stroll round the shops, have a coffee go to the library - just some little thing for YOU and dont be thinking about whats back at home try to block it out and concentrate on enjoying a little bit of freedom - sorry to be a nag!! (my middle name!!)

MOJ2 - have one of my freshly-baked m&m cookies to cheer you up! Has OH given you any indication of when he'll be ready to talk about it all with you? It may be an idea for his mum to take the kids and you have some time together alone.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Hippy I've just googled cleaning feather duvets, and it should be fine to use the bio powder etc. You just have to make sure that you give it a good shake once it's dry, so that it fluffs up the feathers again, or take it to the launderette to put in their tumble drier.

Oh thanks for doing that. I had searched on this site but couldn't easily see what people had actually used. I used the bio washing powder and washing soda and then the fun started ..... it weighed a ton and it was difficult enough to get it to the line but I couldn't lift it onto the line! I'm 6 foot tall but so is the line and I was trying to throw it over but it was too heavy - a two man job and only me. Hope no-one was watching as it must have been hilarious :rotfl: :rotfl: Succeeded with a bit of lateral thinking and the help of the wooden clothes horse. I'll not be doing it again in a hurry but that I didn't hurry to do it this time - not sure it has ever been cleaned  (shameful I know)
Don't put it down, put it away - thanks Valli

    Thanks for all your support!!!

    Although im no angel.........I promise!!

It was so hard at the start, I have 2 kids with Aspergers, and DD has really bad eczema (which i put down to stress even though she is only 6!) DH was always the one who diciplined the kids and when the accident happened, i was lost.........the boys always listened to him and never to me:) but now its lots better!!

The local social services told me that they could offer no help as we were not 'normal circumstances' and that the kids were in no danger......(methinks if i had a problem with alcohol they maybe would have paid attention).....and i had to fight for counselling for the eldest, as he couldnt understand why when his dad was a good person did this bad thing happen to him!!
DD was 2 when the accident happened and doesnt really remember her dad any other way, DS1 tells stories about what dad used to do and how she was his No 1......Its actually sweet!!

I have been told many many times to try and get on with my life, so last sept i enrolled in a course that would enable me to do a degree in nursing or social work, and that has been a massive help for myself and the kids......as I feel that it shows them that yes whilst this bad thing has happened to our family that we are strong enough to work hard, and educate ourselves, and get on with things!! I dont allow the kids to use their dads accident as an excuse for not doing homeworks and have told them that whatever way they go in life, that we will be proud of them if they work hard and try their best!!

    See.. even better example!!

Showing your children you CAN have ambition and just because you are thrown a challenging lot it doesn't mean it is the end of the world and you can get on living..

I think it is adorable the older ones share stories of their dad with the little one.. My uncle died when my cousin was 3 and his older siblings would tell them stories about their dad too.. it was a bit unfair they remembered him when the younger one didn't.. but they are all lovely young men now.

It is so terrible that these services are not automatically offered to the children and you too of course.. The worst part is that had you lost him they would have offered it.. and just because you are not a waste of water SS offer nothing.. it is appalling when they are supposed to be there to support ALL families in need.. I think it is a sign there are so many who are not capable of caring for their children properly that the service is limited to dysfunctional families.

I am even more impressed now that you find the time and motivation to further your education, it just goes to show it CAN be done and all those (like me!!) that say we don't have time etc are talking poop!! What better example could your children have?

Glad you managed to do it ok - I forgot to put that it would be heavy when wet - it took both OH and I to put it up, but then I'm only 5ft 5, and not very strong, and OH is only 5ft 8. I was constantly going out to it and squeezing out the excess water so that it would dry quicker. I found it quite satisfying, but then again I'm sad! Our duvet was inherited from my parents when I went to uni and had a double bed, but only a single duvet, so don't know when it was last washed. When I did our kingsize (only used in the winter) I took it to the launderette and did it in their machines but it cost quite a bit to tumble dry it there, and it took most of my day waiting for it too!
