Apart from their 2k budget, unless the OP is happy to spend that for a week.
Incapuppy, I don't know the prices at the Moon Palace, but as someone else had recommended it I assumed that they knew that it was within the OP's budget.

On our 2 visits to Cancun (admittedly one was back in 1991), we didn't encounter any drunken Americans, but then again we avoided their holiday periods.
Although we stayed on the Hotel Zone, we caught the local bus into Downtown Cancun where the prices were in pesos not dollars and ate in local restaurants off Tulum Avenue.
From what friends have told me, I think the hurricane in 2005 destroyed many of these small restaurants and the money that has been allocated for rebuilding has not filtered down to them as yet.

    Hi Polly

I was just assuming that Janie wanted 2 weeks for her budget but of course this may not be the case. I just had a quick peep in the FC brochure that I had to hand and for Sept next year the prices are showing as £1255pp for 7 nights and £1839pp for 14 :)

    HOW MUCH??????

My God, at those rates Janie wouldn't even get 1 week there.
Definitely doesn't tick the 'price' box then, does it?

Personally, I much prefer the Far East to the Caribbean, but we like to eat out in local places rather than be confined to a hotel, so AI doesn't really suit us.
I think the Caribbean offers more AI options.

I hope Janie comes back and lets us know what she's decided on.
  • Thankyou so much for your help , looks like IT is going to be sri lanka , i can see myself spending a lot of time researching late into the night

Hi good choice. I am a Sri Lankan and if you want any details from the pov of a local about hotels or places to visit I'd be willing to help you out. Feel free to pm me.
