I do think that was a bit over the top and you still see for sale signs in cars

But if you include contact details in your notice it becomes an advert for a sale conducted elsewhere, and therefore does not fall under street trading laws.

TBh you have to question the sensibility of buying a car from someone who is that cheap they resort to a piece of A4 paper in the window.

I dont agree, as if you are selling your car, you may have luck selling it this way to someone passing as an impulse buy who likes it as they have seen it is for sale, especially if it for example a nice Vintage car, say an old Beetle. I think why not!!

I live on a main road and have advertised every 2nd hand car I,ve disposed of, caravans, bikes, piles of logs and even given stacks of wheels tires away rather than take them to the scrappy.

My record for a sale was a caravan that was literally gone of the drive within the hour and my last car sold the 1st evening, about 2hrs after I'd put the sign in, to a local about 300yds up the road.

So no, it's not a cheapskate way of doing things. It saves money and hassle.:p

Actually that reminds me, I sold terracotta garden pots I no longer wanted out the front of my house with a sign for 50p each, that shifted a few!!
