Why does my broadband disconnect when phone rings?

    Do you have call waiting on your phone line?

    This may cause the disconnection... I had this problem.. dont know why.. had to get it taken off landline..

    If you can, plug your ADSL modem into the BT master socket (via microfilter of course) and unplug all other telephone extensions. See if you still get the same problem. If you do, report it to your ISP. If you don't, you probably have a fault on your internal extension wiring which BT will charge to sort out.

    You do need a filter in all sockets even if there is no device plugged in.

    I had the same trouble when i had an analogue phone plugged into the filter too.
    Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......
  • Why on earth would you need a filter in a socket with nothing plugged into it? Its there to stop you hearing the data when you use the phone. If nothings plugged it then its an open circuit.
