    Ah! got good old day's!

When a 50Mb Hard drive was the side of a modern day PC case! and weighed a tonne!! and BBC B's were in every classroom!! :D:D

And when a broken install was when you sat on the floppies and bent them!!

Also the best game ever was "Elite!" :D:D

Only a year out. Started when home computers first came out. Used to build RAM packs for ZX81's and repair them when people fried them thanks to the infamous RAM pack wobble. Then when "proper keyboards" came out, I used to fit them too. Moved on to repairing Speccies after that. Strangely Commodores seemed to work forever. Sadly at one point, I could code in 6502 machine code OTTOMH.

I used to have a Spectrum with a squishy keyboard, then I upgraded to an Amstrad CPC-464. Fun times!

I can still remember playing Stig Of The Dump on the BBCs in school. It wouldn't surprise me if they were still using them!
Also the best game ever was "Elite!" :D:D

Still is one of the best, though I prefer Elite II myself.

You can download various versions of them (all perfectly legal of course):

    http://home.clara.net/iancgbell/elite/game.htm (Elite)

http://www.eliteclub.co.uk/download/ (Elite II: Frontiers & Elite Frontiers: First Encounters)

There are also various fan made games along the same lines:

    http://oolite.org/ (Mac, PC and Linux)

Still waiting for Elite 4 though!

    It's a browser exploit, moron.

Nice reply from someone who can only stoop to insults to support the bloated Vista.

    ceasefire...
I have read with interest about this readyboost...
I have a 4gb Kingston data traveler that I use for readyboost...
but it isn't readyboost...as such just a plain old 4gb usb drive...
so does it actually matter if it's not readyboost or not...
I mean on ebuyer it's £2.99 for a Kingston 1gb usb pen drive
    and with readyboost it's £5.00
but I fail to see the difference except the price...
now that I have said my 2 penth's worth be gentle...:):rotfl:
by the way I am running P4 with 2gb ram with vista prem...32bit...

    Plans for 2009
1/ Get fit. 2/ Get my figure back. 3/ Get the MAN BACK! :kisses2::happylove
contrary to popular belief, I am all Woman.

  • I remember playing the first Elite on our BBC Micro with the worst joysticks that have ever been made. I've still got Elite II: Frontier set up on my Amiga 1200.

Don't hold your breath for Elite 4, I don't think we'll ever see it..

    I'm only twenty something!

I'm getting a bit too close to 30 though to say what the something is. ;)
