Whats the score with Paypal for collection only goods now??

Hmmmm...... trying to list a bed. Collection only.
I've not sold anything on eBay for ages (except a van but they are exempt) so what sort of protection are Paypal offering buyers now for goods collected? Anything?
I'd be grateful if someone could let me know. I see lots of people have Paypal specified on their collection only goods though so I wonder if something changed that I missed.
Thanks.

There is no exemption against the rules that require sellers to offer and accept paypal, even on collected items where you would then lose a paypal claim for itme not received.
Personally I no longer sell collection only items until ebay come up with a way of safeguarding me against a INR claim and use small ads or gumtree instead.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi Soo, knew you would be here
Yes, I got that bit, but if I specify on the 'additional instructions bit' that I am not going to accept Paypal on collections then the listing will get pulled won't it?
I am/was going to stick it on BIN with Best Offer anyway but not sure whether to bother or not or risk saying 'Collection Only' as it is not like I use it that often to worry about getting one mark against my name for breaking their stupid rules!!
I'd add a stupid postage charge to cover that side but that would put people off from looking so that seems a bit pointless too. Glad I do not rely on eBay too often these days, I just have this damn bed to get rid of!0 -
Just put on the listing in bold 'cash on collection'- that's really the best you can do.
If someone does pay with paypal you just have to refund them and explain why.
If you put 'no paypal' your listing could get pulled, unlikely though.0 -
Do you reckon this will 'pass'?
PLEASE NOTE: CASH ONLY WHEN THE GOODS ARE COLLECTED. I cannot accept Paypal for collection items as there will no proof of delivery. Thank you.
Such a faff really.0 -
I sold three collection only items recently and all three paid paypal! This is despite my putting in the listing, in bold capital letters, CASH ON COLLECTION ONLY PLEASE.
It really winds me up and there's nothing I can but take the chance their not trying to pull a fast one.
That said, only two of the items have actually been collected. I've still got the third sat here a month later with no contact from the buyer since.0 -
when you list the item why not just un tick the box where it asks for payments accepted..
also cash on collection is better anyway...no paypal fees to pay!0 -
I reckon this became an issue for financial standards authority. Start complaining people.0

Because it will not let you list without accepting Paypal now. They changed the rules to screw more money out of people - but it means a buyer can collect something and then go back home and claim a 'non-receipt' with paypal a week later and there is nothing the buyer can do as you do not have a 'recommended proof of delivery' to send to Paypal0 -

You know, this is what I thought, that they would not be allowed to do this but you take your choice to use eBay and if you don;t like it then don't use it. I have been tempted to see if it is 'finanacially viable' to set up a website myself selling my second hand stuff. I reckon that the costs would be less depending on how much you sell, and the place that hosts my website means that the items come up in the top 10 of Google - so it is possible I guess.0 -

Your listing will be pulled if it in any ways suggests you will refuse a paypal payment. You can't even say you 'prefer' cash on collection.
This is discussed over and over again on the seller boards on ebay and there seems no guaranteed way round accepting paypal on a collection item. What works for some people just gets others a warning.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
