Your OR/examiner has misunderstood their own rules and guidance by the look of it.

But in general, if it is at all practical then it is best to open the new account after the bankruptcy order has been made.

I know - it was a bit of a bone of contention but in the end we thought it wasn't worth arguing with her about it all.

WOOOO So glad you managed it. Mine took about 7 days for the details to come through. One thing is if you want to do on-line banking you have to phone them to register. I don't have a co-op near me so on-line banking is a must. Good luck with all.D

but i suspect that if my landlord discovers i have no bank a/c they will want to know why, and if they find out i could well get chucked out anyway..
Assuming you have a tenancy agreement and a landlord who actually adheres to such things, it wouldn`t be a lawful reason to evict. In order to end your tenancy, landlords have to legally go to court, which costs money and takes time: usually a couple of months to get a court date at the very earliest.... ring Shelterline (there number`s googleable) and they`ll give you up to date advice.

It does not say it will accept BR`s, all it does say you are welcome to apply, big difference.
