Most banks freeze your account when they find out you been declared BR.0

A lot of people are under the wrong impression that they have to open up their account post bankruptcy. Anyway hindsight and all that...

Might be a daft question but why didn't you open an account before you went bankrupt?
It wouldn't have made any difference, all the non BR friendly banks will freeze/close your account as soon as you are BR. Merry Gentry even had her Co-op accounts frozen, and I had my Barclays closed.
The IS adviced is to open new account straight after BR.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Not the wrong impression, it is what you are supposed to do, but the majority of people get away with opening a Co-op account before.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I was told to open my co-op account before I went bankrupt. If there's no money in (or very little) then the OR isn't interested in it anyway. You can open a basic account with no overdraft facility etc, the OR is only interested in who you owe money to and any savings you've got, a newly opened basic account is of no interest at all.0
