Bankrupt yesterday. no bank a/c and general panic taking hold.

Peachy is right. We opened cashminder accounts pre-BR and the OR told us we would have to close them and open new ones. Co-Op were not best chuffed as at one stage we had six accounts (single one each, plus joint one).

Hope the OP got on ok with the Co-Op - we had a debt with them pre-BR and they let us open accounts, so it might not be a 'rule' as yet.

Unfortunately not always true. Our OR said we had done the right thing moving accounts, but that we had jumped the gun. According to our OR any account that was open pre-BR cannot be operated afterwards so she made us close them even though the Co-op were happy for us to keep them open.

Your OR/examiner has misunderstood their own rules and guidance by the look of it.

But in general, if it is at all practical then it is best to open the new account after the bankruptcy order has been made.
