Thanks Reluctant_spender!
What's this computer cleaning stuff flossy_splodge mentions? Is this recommended before changing these types of software? Or am I just getting distracted by this?0 -
Your fine, flossy thinks there is something there - if I have read it right
Although saying that it never hurts to do an online scan with some like Kaspersky. This site is good as it does not delete files but highlights the bad,0 -
I’m trying to set ‘Scheduling a Scan’, however, in the tutorial it says ‘Click (or double-click) on the file ashQuick.exe’. I can’t see ashQuick.exe when I click on browse and was wondering if this would make any difference at all. Or is there an alternative to doing this?
I've even tried rereading the tutorial especially this bit:
To test your newly created task, from the Scheduled Tasks window, right-click on the task's icon and choose "Run" from the popup menu. If the scan doesn't begin correctly you'll get an error message. The problem is most likely in the scan path (missing quotes or something like that.)
Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing but I don't see what I think I'm supposed to be looking at. I'm obviously doing something wrong.
I think I’ve set the Scheduled Scan OK but I’m not sure if this will run without clicking on ashQuick.exe. Nevertheless, I’d still like to know how to test it.0 -

I keep getting the above coming up as a mutant whenever I run PC Tools ThreatFire though I think it might be something to do with the Google tool bar. Can someone please tell me were I can check if something like this is genuine or not?

Thanks Browntoa!
I've already got ccleaner and will run it sometime today as you've suggested.0 -
...and a disk cleanup and defrag as well.....might be useful to list what you now have installed on pc...........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Good idea, thanks.
Can you explain how I would do a disk cleanup and defrag?0 -
my computer/right-click on your HDD, properties, disk cleanup....then the tools tab, defrag........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Might be an idea to run the AVG removal tool (32 bit) as it tends to leave bits behind even when uninstalled
