I can't recomend highly enough Felicity lawrence ' Not on the Label'...the 'secrets' are all in there....corn starch is undigestible, goes to liver and turns to fat (sort of what she wrote) all the fillers in supposedly healthy foods etc.
Sugars are the killer too plus they are really addictive.
If you have the time to really go for the whole 'Never any processed food ever again'......this includes sauces. dressings, jams...everything fiddled about with....the weight drops off. Takes a year or 2 but is permanent.
OH struggles with it as he has a sugar problem (I blame his mum) and he gave it up for 3 weeks.....way worse that quitting ciggies he said.
I've never been big (max 10 stone @ 5' 7") but am now 8 + half or 9 and struggle to keep weight up. When stressed it drops off and I end up looking skinny (not great at my age) ...so have to excercise a lot to keep some muscles on the bones.
When you are well your body will find it's perfect weight....and I hope you get well soon...illness is one of the hardest things to cope with. Makes me ashamed to moan and moan.0 -

I saw this today on the BBC website - wedding for £440 all-in, incl food, nice dress, etc.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/7565534.stm...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I saw that earlier - showed it to my OH to prove we could do it for that price! His parents have already offered their amazingly beautiful, large garden for the reception already, so there wouldn't be any costs there (apart from some marquees). My Mum would do the buffet (she does amazing buffet food - not a sausage roll in sight!), and my sister and her friends would do the waitressing! We would go on a day trip to France and get tons of cheap booze so that all our friends wouldn't have to pay. Fed up of going to weddings recently where the drinks have been £4.50 each.
Then afterwards everyone (not the bride and groom of course!) would kip on the floor in the outbuildings (connected to the house so warm and dry) on roll matts from my Army Cadet unit in sleeping bags! My friends think it's a brill idea, just got the convince the OH that nearly 8 years together is quite long enough, and that we can afford it!
NDG you planning on tying the knot any time soon?0 -
No, not really - we might do eventually, but not yet. No real reason to (-:
I'm not anti-marriage or anything, just not that fussed.
If we did get married, I'm sure I'd have to fend off my parents wanting to invite random second cousins I've met twice, but they are reasonable people, so they'll give in (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

That's my boyfriend's view on the matter exactly.
Luckily my parents aren't really into the whole marriage thing. Both his and my parents are still together, and both say that the fact they have a piece of paper saying they are married has nothing to do with the fact that they still love each other!0 -

My parents are still together, and seem happy being married, and OH's were until they died.
Do the bride's parents still pay for weddings? I have no idea....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
