    I found stardrops this afternoon!

Had never heard of it before but will now head off to the section where they discuss it.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
  • The playgroup fees are baffling me is it a mother and toddler group or a preschool/nursery setting? If it is the latter all children the term after their 3rd birthday are entitled to 12 hrs free a week.

You also spend £21 a month on Sky you could cancel this and use it towards the shoes.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi scjs2008,

Welcome to the forum. Lots of people have put forward some really good ideas for you. I have read through and can sympathise with your situation especially being heavily pregnant as your hormones will be all over the place and you must be exhausted looking after the children by yourself.

But what you need to do is STOP SPENDING. There are many of us who have come from poor backgrounds and vowed never to put our children through it but I am certain that your children could go without things to help you get out of debt. I totally agree with those who have mentioned Asda and Tesco clothing ranges, using the OS board for meal planning and money saving tips.

You have stop thinking in terms of what you would be allowed to have if you went under a plan. Instead look at what you can do today. Just taking control will be empowering. The children do not need to go out on trips that cost money. What area do you live in? People on here will be able to suggest free days out or activities you can do in your home or garden/park.

The children's father has responsibilities towards his children and raising them - is there anything you could do to get him to contribute? There was also the suggestion made about depression - please see your doctor or inform your midwife of your current difficulties as you could be at risk of post-natal depression if you are not depressed already. You do have a lot on your plate.

I hope I haven't come across as too harsh - I don't mean to. You've come to the right place as once you are caught up in the DFW community, all sorts of options to help yourself appear and you realise that it is better not to spend the money when you could make savings.

    Good luck.

Here's the link for 'free' childcare:

Think the OP needs to get in contact with her local authority for assistance in finding a place.

Edit: actually there's lots of useful links to the right of the page (link)

"Every three and four year old in England is entitled to 12.5 hours of free early learning per week"

Is it possible that you may have only looked at one option? As they may not have the one that you applied for but they need to provide one somewhere else if that's the case.

Hi there, don't want to tread on anyones toes as I'm more of a lurker than a poster on here;) but I notice you've got a CCJ that you stopped paying 4 months ago, how much is the repayment per month? You really need to start paying this ASAP and treat as a priority debt as this could have further implications if you don't which is the last thing you need at the moment.
