  • Yeah that's true about our parents. My parents started off in a dingy 2-bed flat.. which they bought for £16K in 1987... they kept upgrading houses as my brother was born, then my sisters... and now they have a £220K semi-detached and they only paid £105K for it in 2001! Even if it were to lose value in the housing crash they will still have made a lot of money on it.

It's a bad situation to be in, especially as you don't know what's gonna happen with prices (ie they might go up again sooner than everyone thinks ) and I can't see myself having enough money to buy my own house for at least another 2-3 years. Just have to be grateful that I have a roof over my head I suppose, it could be worse :S

I'm the same, 2-3 years would be a good estimate for me but I doubt it will happen that soon. People are saying house prices won't recover til 2013 so we'll see I guess. I suppose it also depends a lot on what happens with my boyfriend, he has been really lucky and got a really good graduate job with the home office. From what he says they seem to promote people quite quickly. He keeps telling me I'll be the one living in his house!

Indeed I do Jen. He got scared with the fireworks earlier in the week and jumped on me (I was sitting on the sofa), he virtully crushed my lung lol, that isn't the kind of weight you want sitting on you!

It's a breed of dog CL. It's a cross between a st bernard, a pyranean (spelling looks v. dodgy) mountain dog & a newfoundland.
