I am 20weeks pregnant and can no longer squeeze into my biggest sized clothes. Can anyone reccomend some highstreet shops please? I have looked on ebay but I think i would prefer to see them before I bought them which is why I am stick to the shops.

Where do you normally buy your clothes from? :)

I usually buy my trousers and jeans from TopShop so that's where I've looked for maternity trousers. I've also looked in New Look and Dorothy Perkins.

If you're quick, you can probably grab a few bits in the sales too!
  • Have you got a Next clearance shop near you? Ours has got a large section of maternity wear at really cheap prices:p

Asda was my friend when I was pg, as was Next - but you had to order the stuff from the directory - most Next stores didn't carry it.

I love Peacocks, so cheap and I actually really like the stuff they've got too :-) You can check on their site if your local shop does the maternity stuff.

H & M do maternity stuff and I bought loads of mine from there. Not too badly priced either.

I got lots from tesco, but not sure they still have a maternity range? I heard that Asda had stopped their maternity range too, but that could be just my local store?

I went to DPs for other bits too as DP was where the majority of my clothes came from.

    Congratulations!!
I'm 32 weeks pregnant now and found that all I really needed to buy was bottoms. I already had a lot of smock style tops and other tops, as long as they are long enough to cover your bump, can usually still be worn.

I second H&M's maternity range though. The jeans are a bit pricey but I would go and try them on and then have a look on ebay. There are lots of people selling maternity clothes on there and I've got some real bargains from there.

I would also recommend getting a few dresses, not nec. maternity either, you can wear them with leggings aswell and still look really stylish.

Debenhams also have quite a good selection of maternity clothes so worth a look. I would also agree that peacocks is great but I've found their nightwear a must! I've just been buying a size or two bigger and it's fantastic to slouch about in after a days work and also in the hot weather.
    Good luck!

I second the leggings suggestion and dresses, especially jersey, stretchy types. That's all I live in at the moment and smock tops. I got some nice tops from M&S with a sticky out front for £5 (full price!!!!) in various colours. I am 35 weeks pregnant now and havn't needed to buy any maternity clothes. I am so tall that I'm still in my normal jeans that seem to just keep fitting. I have survived on hand-me-downs aswell fron my aunt who is a bigger size than me, so providing things are long enough you can sometimes get away with it. Oh and for when I'm feeling a bit bloated, I stick a hairband on the waist of my jeans to keep them neat. Goodluck!!!
  • H&M definitely worth looking at, but go in regularly as their stock sells out quickly and they then bring in their next batch.

There is also a company called Maternity Exchange. Set up by a lady near Marlow after she had her children. I have been to her for both my pregnancies. She basically sells end of lines, and second hand. I am intending on selling all my maternity clothes, when I finally get round to washing and ironing everything to make them as new again. Great because she sells loads of different lines and all the seasons, and you get ranges from a couple of years ago, which are still in fashion but no longer possible to get hold off. I got some great beach skirts which i hadn't been able to locate in the shops when I was pregnant.
If you aren't near Marlow have a look on the website, not sure what the address is, but google Maternity Exchange and it should come up, they have a couple of other branches.
