Sorry Inactive, worked on my Sky Plus box when I had the same problem, it forces a software reload.

Fair enough, however I honestly don't think that it will effect a cure to the OP's receiver.

Oh and BTW no need to leave the phone line connected when doing a software update, it makes no difference.;)

Well if it is, it is a first, as far as I am aware, all 0844 and 0845 numbers are chargeable.

Only 0800, 0808 0500 numbers are free, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

it forces a software reload, but it downloads it from the satellite, and not the phone line.... oh please.. get your facts straight..

as for the 0844 number... it is only free if you are a sky talk customer, and not just a sky customer... a big difference that one word "talk"

not you... matt_nixon said you had to have the box connected to the phone line, to do a software update.. which you don't.... your info was correct, i just like to rant at inaccuracies that people seem to make all the time..

Thanks for that, oh and thanks for clarifying the " free " call to Sky thing, I just knew that Sky would not give up their highly lucrative income from their suffering customers.

Well other than the few with Sky Talk.;)

i stand half corrected. Calls to the Sky call centres are free to sky talk customers on the 0844 number . this still must be a massive saving for us who have the sky package.

Look, i am not stupid, or a liar, check with the sky website, i checked with SKY when i spoke to them over the telephone, i saw it in black and white,
i heard them with my own ears, dont know how many more times i need to say it 0844 numbers are free to sky subscribers and are chargeable to non subscribers, i wish somebody who can post links would just check and verify this.

ok.. explain this to me... i call 0844 from my bt phone, billed by bt, charged at a standard 0844 rate... how the hell are bt supposed to know that i'm a sky customer...

    taken from the sky website

    Call charges - UK
Please note that call may be monitored
    or recorded for training purposes.
Calling Sky 0844 numbers is free for
    Sky Talk customers.
For calls from BT landlines (correct as
at June 2008. Charges for calls from
    mobile phones and other networks
    may vary:
    0844 numbers: 6p connection + up to 5p
    per minute
    0870 numbers: 6p connection + up to 8p
    per minute

if you READ.. it says.. free to SKY TALK customers...

    not free to sky customers...
huge difference.. that one word .. talk..
