Sky + Problem

Hello

Switched on the Sky+ this morning and got "No signal begin received" Code 29.

So I rang up Sky who told me it's probably a problem with the Sky+ box and will send out an engineer.

The box is only 9 months old and I will have to wait until Wednesday of next week before an engineer will be available to check the system? so 6 days without Sky.

Not so happy about this, any ideas on what I could do, also is there a 0800 number for Sky as I dont want to ring thier 0844 number again.

Thanks

Have you tried pulling out the plug, waiting a minute or two, then plugging it back in?

Have you tried the forced reload of the Sky + software over the phone line?

It's hard to find a cheap way to 'phone Sky.

Sky is deeply committed to the principle of making people spend a long time on an 0870 number at 6 pence a minute when they're ringing up to sort out something over which Sky itself is at fault  .

It acts swiftly to close any loopholes that appear on "Say-No-to-0870".

Sky has total contempt for its customers; it sees them as people that it has by the nuts and it charges them as much money as it can get away with, for everything.

I despise Sky and its entire business method. Can't wait for Freesat to go multi-channel HD.

After so many years, and quite a few attempted scams by them, few things will give me greater pleasure than to be able to ring Sky (even on their bloody 0870 number) and tell them just where they can stick their extortionate monthly subscription.

Because of its monopolistic position, I don't think Sky realises just how much it is hated by so many of its customers. It's in for a nasty shock as soon as there's a viable alternative.

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

some ideas here for checking out your sky+ box.
Failing that have a look at sky= forum on www.digital spy.co.uk

I usually find a hard reset gets my box back working
    (sky)(services) 401 (select) reset

just to let you know that to all sky subscribers the 0844 number is now a freecall, it is in the terms and conditions now and i also checked with a lady at sky when i had to ring them, to non subscribers it is charged for. i just found out this a couple of weeks ago. the old 0870 number was a fortune to use.

You shouldnt have to pay anything if its only 9 months old but mine was about 18 months old when I had the same problem with the skyplus, i had to pay £65 or £69 for an engineers visit and he found that the box was knackered but they put in a refurbished box (which was in with the price) No problem since.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Are you sure?.. an 0844 or 0845 number are chargeable.

Can you post a copy of the " terms and conditions " to clarify this?

Make sure your sky + box is connected to the phone line, then Turn box off, hold backup down, turn box on still holding backup, release backup when all the lights come on.

That will only update the software and is only applicable if the Sky Receiver has been left disconnected for any amount of time, I don't think it will help in this situation.
