Wig - once the rattle comes back, it is constant as long as the roof is up. There's no rattle ever when the roof is down. Everyone is agreed that the rattle is caused by something to do with the retractable roof. The way it comes back, it's almost as if they tighten something which then becomes immediately loose when the roof is lowered or gradually works loose with normal road vibrations over a longer period, when the roof is not lowered.
As I've mentioned before, my 207cc is not the only one with this problem - there are at least another five or six on the pug-cc forum, and when I first had to go back to the garage, the aftersales manager said he'd had two or three come back with it.
Not being a techie, I have been told that they have variously adjusted the hydraulics for the roof several times, adjusted the boot lid, replaced the boot lock (!), tightened a bar which is part of the roof mechanism in the boot several times and at the last visit (last week) that the entire roof mechanism had been replaced. They were very confident that the last visit would have cured the problem, so it was very disheartening to hear the rattle again last Friday morning. And yes, I called immediately, they brought me a loan car and my car is still with them now.
Your post #30 does give me some comfort that both the garage and myself are continuing in the best way possible for the time being.0 -
When you collect it on this occasion, why not put the roof up and down a few times and then go for an immediate drive with it for about 20 miles, hopefully with one of their engineers in the car.;)0

Tried that, Inactive. About six visits ago, I collected the car, drove round the corner and put the roof up and down - nothing. Drove home, drove to work the next morning - and the rattle was back. It's so loud, I can tell within a few meters of driving whether it's there or not.0

All you need to do is be firm but polite in what you want from the dealership. i.e. you take the car back tell them you are not picking it up until it has been fixed and tested several times. I would put this in writing stating all the times you have taken the car in, what has been done to it and who has worked on it etc... you can ask for the workshop reports get them printed out and use these in your letter. You need to state how unhappy you are, use big complicated words! Tell them if the problem reoccurs you will be contacting head office, if need be managing director.
It is worth a try, it has worked in my experience i have done it with my Mercedes, one problem - car taken in about 8 times and always returned for the problem to reoccur. I wrote a 3page letter and demanded the email address of the manager, emailed it and got s response within a few hours. Car was collected and kept for 4 weeks! I got a free valet, petrol, and the main one i wanted was another years warranty free of charge - of course i got it and now if i ring up the garage i get super efficient service, if i go in i never have to wait - all in all they dont want fuss and if you go through the normal channels eg. manager, area manager, managing director you will get it sorted before you even have to write a 2nd letter.
Give it a go! i have never had a Peugeot but imagine it will work.0 -
