Friday 8/08/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Today I will:

  • update spreadsheets
  • check online banking
  • do clicks
  • Make a loaf in breadmaker
  • Try and have a no spend day
  • Not use car to save on petrol
  • storecupboard meals
Enjoy the day everyone it's almost the weekend:j :j :j

Congrats on the Avon... I hope your orders are plentiful :D

I had a NSD yesterday *woop* and really enjoyed it- dug out some fake tan and applied that and cleaned the house. We're going to a Christening at the weekend so I have to go out today and buy the cards and wrapping paper.

    So today I will...
    • not grab a coffee whilst i'm out
    • walk further and go to the cheaper card shop
    • Only buy wrapping paper as we have loads of ribbon somewhere and make my own bow (paid 75p for one for my mum the other day and it just went straight in the bin :o )
    • go to the poundshop and buy myself a big sealed tin that I've seen to start saving my pennies
    • see if there are any cheap gifts for Christmas in the sale (£10 max spend)
    • go to the post office and get money bags for DPs massive copper box and bag that up
    • Do some competitions!
    • And make a payment to my Egg Card
    Have a lovely day everyone

I'll try and make this a NSD.....I keep being caught out :o (oops I've remembered I need garlic for the batch cooking tonight....)

    Morning All :hello:
    Today I have/will:
    • piggy clicks and check on-line banking.
    • brought in a packed lunch
    • store-cupboard supper
    • must clean out the fridges, go back to just one fridge and deal with all the stuff lurking in them..... (I use 2 when the family descends otherwise there is no room for all the beer :o )
    • make some bread, and possibly fill the oven with baking :p
    • Inspiration!!! I'll ask DS1's gf to pick up some garlic while she's out today - that should maintain my NSD
    • We're Skyping Popeye tonight :D:D:D:D (en masse!)
  • Morning all!

On today's quest as a DFW I shall / have:

Made little pots of jelly to take to work with me for lunch treat - diet friendly and pocket friendly!
Brought breakfast / lunch to work
Got meat out of freezer for store cupboard chicken curry
Will chop and freeze chillis from garden tonight
Go to gym tonight (through my very cheap monthly membership)
    Check online banking / pigsback

Lots of early birds again today and everyone sounds very positive.

Princess Loki, good luck with Avon, hope you enjoy doing it.

Cassey, enjoy your very last day at work today, make sure you have a glass of wine later to celebrate (the moment you kick your shoes off as you walk through the door!)

fayjmck, hope you get your car back soon.

    Things i must do today:
-Have someone coming round to inspect the energy efficiency of our house, due to it being a rented place

-Sort out mystery shops for tomorrow, including all paper work
    -Tidy some of the house
-Design some more leaflets and order lots more free stuff from vista print, thank god its so cheap as have changed some of my stuff already, making some of the other stuff redundant, not great business wise, but am only new to it and Vista print is so cheap, it's not so bad!
-Have been in touch with a mystery shopping company to cancel a job
-Have been in touch with another company to tell them if they don't hurry up and tell me they want me to do the job, then i wont be able to do it!

Things i would like to do today
    -Do my ironing
-Do a weekly review, haven't done one in ages, need to know where i stand with everything
-Do a spreadsheet for my grocery challenge
-Get up to date with all challenges
    -Put some financial papers away

-Get up to date with business
-Sort out and send off receipts for mystery shops
    -Look for more mystery shops

    -Do a bit of gardening
    -Do any surveys
    -Do daily clicks
    -Work through emails
-Place some money into a bookies and place a matched bet

    Did my competitions!
