Thank you MissPenny I am surrounded by burgers lol! I can almost hear my OH saying "told you so" if he gets home and I haven't at least planned uses for all of them! At least this should be a cheap (if dull) month of meals!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

I have loads of the burgers and I am running out of ideas  . So far I have:- Kept some as burgers
- Meatloaf
- Meatballs
- Bolognaise
What about chilli con carne? Kid beans or other pulses to bulk out and a pepper if you have one lurking in fridge or freezer."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

For the sausages, I would probs:
- Make meatballs (take out of their skins and shape)
- Make a sausage casserole (I do mine just with onion, beef stock cube made up, and plain flour to thicken)
- Chopped up sausage mixed with a tomato sauce and pasta
- Chopped up sausage mixed with a tomato sauce and veggies, topped with mash as a "Sausage Pie"
- And save some for butties or just serving as they are with mash and veg or baked beans
Love and compassion to all x0 -
the sausages arent that good a deal as you can buy almost the same sausage from the freezers a bag of 20 for £1.48.
did buy the burgers though just had them for tea fried with onions and then lots of gravy on them with mashed potatoes and peas.when your life is a mess light one more cigarette its so logical!!

Does Mr M do this 50p thing each week or is it just from time to time? It's not my nearest by far, but I can get there, although it would be good to know in advance that it's worth it!

with the burgers i made a lovely chilli. i firstly fried the burgers with onion's, but before i fried them i chopped them up and as they were cooking i chopped them up more. then i put it in slow cooker with chopped toms , kidney beans and seasoning . it was lovely.
with the chicken to feed 4 i found it not much on it's own so i made a chicken casserole and served with jacket spud's.i also made a chicken casserole with dumplins in and then served that with mash. with the sausages i used 4 at a time and made sausage casserole served with jackets. i also cooked a sausage each and sliced in half and became mum of year by making kids sausages sandwiches for breakie other day. they were so chuffed.
with othe pack i plan to make devilled sausages. ( it my mums recipes from a 1960' cook book) made with tom sauce , pickle , onion , vinegar loads of other bits and it like a sweet and sour type sauce. sounds gross but is gorgeous. serve this with rice.
the kids having really enjoyed all of these.and we were all really full. be handy having dull weather as i think i made the meats go further than i would had it of been hot. if that makes sence.0 -
idea for sausages: spicy vegetable and sausage roast.
I cut up a load of veggies into chunks (I used an aubergine, a few potatoes - I parboiled these first - a couple of courgettes, a couple of red onions, some wrinkly peppers) and put them in an open roasting dish. Cut each sausages into 3 pieces with scissors, and scattered them amongst the veg, added 2-3 teaspoons of fennel seeds, 3 crushed cloves of garlic, 3 tablespoons olive oil and salt and pepper. Then I put it in a hot oven (mark 7, about 220 degrees) to roast for about 20 minutes, then added some cut up tomatoes (about 500g, but quantities are not crucial). Back in the oven to roast till all is cooked through and nicely brown on top, about another 20 - 25 minutes or so, depending on the size of the vegetable pieces. Turn the veg and sausages over every now and then while cooking to brown both sides / coat nicely with the flavoured oil. It was very tasty, cheap (as most of the veggies came from the garden), and only one pan to wash up! You can use whatever vegetables you have, though do parboil hard ones like carrots or parsnips before adding them to the pan. The fennel seed / garlic / olive oil / tomato combination is nice with more or less anything. It feeds 3-4, though obviously it is easy to increase or decrease quantities, and leftovers can be warmed up or eaten cold the next day.0 -
