It took me 6 weeks to get a Barclays account. They sent it back to me 3 times saying I hadent sent the right stuff in when I had gone to the branch gave them all my id etc the bank must have mislaid everything. It was supposed to take 2 weeks.

I've just got a Virgin prepaid card it said it would take 3 weeks but it came in the post 5 days after I applied.

If yours took so long to open why doesn't your husband start the process now? It won't get frozen.

I read the info on the sticky about the Clydesdale bank Readycash bank account. This bank operates in England as Yorkshire Bank. I've emailed them to ask if their Readycash account is open to undischarged bankrupts and if they would close the account if you had one when you went bankrupt. Hopefully they'll get back to me with a straight answer. If they do I'll get back to you all.

THey won't accept non discharged bankrupts. If you choose to ignore the advice on here then I don't really see how I can be of any help to you. That is why your Halifax was frozen and your wages are in limbo. Had you taken the advice given on here you'd have your money this weekend.

I'm sorry but if you ask for advice and then refuse to believe it I don't really have any more answers.

Also, it doesn't really matter what the people on the phone or in the branch tell you, as you've found out, they aren't the ones who make the decisions or implement them.

I am 99% certain that they do not accept you untill discharged

Thanks for that. If they say any different I'll post it but I guess you don't actually know until you try to open one do you. It seams so silly that people are struggling to get basic bank accounts where there is no credit. I thought these accounts were meant to be for people who had financial problems.

ok ...... As u know i din;t choose to ignore your advise but i took also into consideration what other has said out of curiosity ! this coment is somewhat unwarranted as i have said before i went to the OR befoer withdrawing anything.

she send a fax to them BEFORE I WENT TO THE BRANCH then i called the vbrach to ask them if they had it they told me yes they wil be no problem to withdraw it.

the smarty !!! at the cashier ask me to call my OR again to ask for a new fax from my OR as he told me the two week old one was too old and they will not allowed me to withdraw it. so i then come back home, call my OR and told her she was somewhat surprised that hey ask again as their HEADOFFICE WERE HAPPY WITH THE DOCUMENT SENT. so i could not understand why i was refused after thyey have confirmed to me by phone that it was ok to do so !

I'm sorry but if you ask for advice and then refuse to believe it I don't really have any more answers.

i never refused to believe it but curiosity took hold of me u were not the only offereing advise as such i consider all option

as have said before i have called their head office and then thie branch to confirm it. so before passing a sweeping judgement check your fact !
