bank account

aparently i have been told that from now on bankrutp who have debt with the coop will be refused a new basic account as per their new security measure.
That must be a relatively new security measure - we had accounts with the Co-op (Smile) when we both went BR and we've had no problems getting cashminders set up. I really hope you get yourself sorted.Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000

They are legit but you have to pay them £12.50 a month for them to administer your account. A lot of people don't like them because of that.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

They also 'manage' your money. When you get paid they immediately take all the money for your DD's for the month, divide the remainder over the rest of the month and give you an allowance each week on a pre-paid type mastercard.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
thanks tigerfeet as usual u give some great advise.
yes they may charge 12.50 a month, on the other hand u don't get charge 25-30 pound /month for a failed DD. they told the 12.50 is to ensure that when i receive my income they took the right amount of money to cover for DD standing order and etc..... and the rest goes to a card account to which i can spend it on what i like . u do get a meastro card but no overdraft etc...
i just had them on the phoen they are oK with Bankrupt as they don't do a credit check but they do ask if u do have any oustanding loan arrears etc....
we can have Dd standing order withthis bank account etc....
they seesm ok so far and friendly other the phone, they werre pretty upfront with me about how the account is managed so i cannot fault them for that !BSC number 1830 -
i didn;t know they gave the "spending money" wek by week i was lead to believe that it is transfer automatically to a prepaid card maybe i may misunderstood themBSC number 1830

Have you tried Natwest? I opened a basic natwest savings account - I think it is called a First Reserve. When I opened the account all I needed was proof of identity and proof of my address - no credit checks were done (I would have been refused if so).
This account comes with a solo Maestro card that can be used in shops and online and also comes with online banking. Even though it is a savings account it allows direct debits and standing orders to be paid from the account.
I am not sure if they allow bankrupts, but as they don't do credit checks for that savings account I can't see why not, I don't think they asked me if I was bankrupt when I opened the account. I am going to see them and see what will happen to the account when go bankrupt in a few weeks.

If you are paid weekly then the spending money is weekly, if monthly then it is paid monthly.
I didn't see you had applied for the Citibank account, I would be interested to see how that turns out. They wouldn't confirm if they accepted BR's when I spoke to them, even when I said I didn't want to go through the process if I wasn't going to be acceptred.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
regarding city bank when i rang them up about if i have any cahnce of success as i am undischarged Br they wouldn't answer either so i will not bother as they asking me to do a certified copy of my passport and so on ..... they only told me that i was provisionally accepted ! if it turn out the same as the Coop one no chance.
like you i don't want to go through the process of applying etc... to be told no because u are bankrupt
i am stil waiting for barclays answer it will be a month i applied on the 18th August.
when thinkbasnking told me they wer part of RBS i told them they were my major creditor on BR and their answer we don't mind as it is open to everyone.BSC number 1830 -
