my vets charge £10 admin fee for filling in forms0

I have never had to fill in one of these, but surely the filling in will have been done by me.0

Does Halifax greatly increase there premiums or is it just Petplan being one of the biggest over charge?
PetPlan overcharge (although I suspect that they'd be the ones you'd choose if money was no object).
When I looked at the costs a few months back, I checked out what it would cost when our 3m puppy hit 7-8 years and Halifax was still the best (actually Animal Friends was, but they had that 35% excess). There was a larger increase than NFU (£100 vs £60), but as Halifax started off £50 lower it was still cheaper.0 -
My vet has never charged me an admin fee for insurance claims although he'd probably be entitled to. I claim so frequently that I probably generate enough paperwork to keep someone in full time employment alone!
I don't think I would object either if he did charge. After all, it takes time and resources to complete the form and all the necessary admin & the additional resources have to be funded somehow. Much more fair to charge directly for the admin than to hike prices for everyone to cover the costs involved.0 -
i think the only time it is covered by insurance is when there is a medical reason why they should be speyed/neutered
Yep, I had the costs covered on an emergency spaying - my "lady dog" had a potentially fatal infection. Insurance company did refuse at first, but my vet wrote explaining the circumstances and they paid up."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -

You fill in part of it and then hand it to the vets for them to confirm diagnoses, treatment etc. They will then copy it and pass the original back to you for posting.
The admin charge will most probably also cover time spent dealing with queries from the insurance company0 -
As someone who has spent a lot of time filling in insurance claim forms when I worked as a vet nurse, it is very time consuming. However I've never worked anywhere where they charged for it!I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

want to change pet insurance but my dog my have a skin problem will all insurances exclude this permanently also he is drinking a lot could it diabetes help0
-
I may be wrong but I think that prospective new insurancce companies would exclude existing known ailments from their cover.

Yes, as with any health insurances, both animal & human, pre-existing illnesses will be excluded - they will check with your vet should you need to claim. Best to stick with the one you've got unless there's a really compelling reason to change.0
