Thanks, Just called them but they declined to insure them as my cats are 10 years old now (probably why it went up eh?) Theyw ere lovely on the phone though!
Can anyone recommend an insurer for older cats. They dont act old though - not when they are tearing around the house at 5.00 am!!

I am trying to find a similar policy but for my dog. he is 11 and my policy has increased and im wondering if its worth it anymore?
I also have it for my 2 cats and its costing me £45 pcm for their insurances.
Am i better off putting the money in a high savings account and then i can use it if/when the need arises and cancel the policy.
Proud to be dealing with my debts
    Claimed £1657 back from lloyds.
Have paid all my debt off with bank money
    (£1300 worth)

Only a £400 loan left to pay now.

The Tesco policy and Direct lines policies are pretty much the same - Direct line launched Tesco pet insurance about 9 years ago, I used to work in that department. Actually it was quite funny as people used to ring Direct line for a quote and then Tesco - quite often they would get the same operator and also of course the same premium:rotfl:

As to the OP question - I'm afraid this is the problem with pet insurance, once they have you as a policyholder and your pets reach a certain age, you have to accept the higher premiums as your choice of new insurers becomes very limited :(

The only advice I can give you is that if you have a good claims history and maybe other policies with Tesco, you could write in and try to get a discount on your policy.

That's fair enough but you could have acknowledged my "joke"
    (Direct (fe)Line, get it?)

    Part of the Furniture
Just got renewal notice from M&S for 1 year old cat, no claims to date - up from £5.47 a month to £8.71 . It's good cover but a 59% increase???

Could anyone advise me as to who is the most competitive for kitten insurance. I have heard good things about M&S but don't want a £50 excess and the online quote doesn't seem to give me the option to reduce this?

I went with Argos this morning for my two girls. £3.99 for first kitten and £3.79 for second, not bad at all me thinks :) xx

    Hi,
I took out M & S insurance online for my cat in May and the option was definitely there then to reduce excess to 0. I'm absolutely certain as that's what I did. It's possible I suppose that they've changed it since then but I think it's worth having another look.
