  • Note Sainsburys that they rejected the claim because they didn't have the information which they hadn't asked for, and they only have one person who does reviews following a rejection. So I don't know what would happen if he was off sick or went on holiday. ...And unfortunately they don't know what their complaints procedure is!

I pay monthly for my pet insurance. I have not had it for a year yet but I havent made a claim. I am thinking of changing it over to Tesco where there is 50% off at the moment. Would I still have to pay the rest of the years premium on the old policy (2 months) Any one know anything about Tesco pet insurance?
There will be a cancellation charge with your current insurer. Just make sure that the Tesco insurance provides at least the same level of insurance as you have at the moment.

I've heard quite a few people say they have had claims rejected for that reason.. Out of curiosity what exactly did they want to know that they didn't ask for?

When I tried to get dog insurance on the Pet Plan web site it asked if I worked from home or took my dog to work. Because I ticked "yes" I cannot get my insurance online!

They rejected the claim saying that the cat had not had a dental check up within the previous 12 months. Which was not true. But even at that stage did not request the information merely rejected the claim.

We managed to obtain proof (our vet contacted the previous vet) and sent it in. However it's now considered a 'Rejected claim'! Only one person in the organisation is capable of handling 'Rejected Claims' and, we learned today, he has only handle those arriving in his intray before 6th December.

Although our claim went in in November he considers it only arrived on 23rd of December as it took time for them to reject it and the original vet to respond in writing.

It's a good job he is never sick or goes on holiday;)

We checked if it was OK to send in a subsequent claim for the continuing problem and was told 'yes, it would be paid once the original claim was agreed.' Today I received an identical letter to the first rejection but dated January. On enquiring I was told this new claim had been rejected and there was a note on the file saying that it should be rejected as the original claim had not been reassessed, i.e. the exact opposite of what they told us.

We plan to have another 'chat' with them on Monday - management don't work at weekends they tell us.

Time to escalate the situation me thinks.

What a farce.. Keep us updated on how it goes! Hopefully they see sense!

Has anyone used Animal Friends Pet Insurance? I'm with M&S at the moment but the premium's getting ridiculous. I got an online quote for £8.90 a month for my 8yr old dog.

I know it's said that if something seems too good to be true, there will usually be a massive catch, but it does seem ok.

Anybody know anything about Animal Friends?
